Senior Software Engineer (Hybrid - Richmond, VA)

Pay Range: $61 - $66/hour (W2 Only)

Type: Contract (with potential for conversion)

Location: Richmond, VA - Hybrid (2 days onsite) preferred.

About the Role

Alphanumeric is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our partner's engineering team in Richmond, VA, supporting a leading organization with a long-standing footprint in the financial and insurance industries. This is an opportunity to play a key role in building scalable, high-performance web applications and data pipelines that enable critical analytics and insights.

You'll design, build, and maintain modern data and application solutions using Postgres SQL, Azure Synapse, Python, and PySpark, ensuring performance, reliability, and quality across systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable web applications, data pipelines, and workflows using Postgres SQL and Azure Synapse.
  • Troubleshoot, enhance, and optimize existing UI and data workflows for reliability and performance.
  • Analyze and resolve production issues across front end, back end, and data layers with root-cause analysis and permanent fixes.
  • Design and maintain data control frameworks to ensure integrity, security, and compliance across Synapse and integrated applications.
  • Collaborate with actuarial stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver reliable, highquality solutions.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, backlog grooming, and task estimation.
  • Apply CI/CD, unit testing, version control, and monitoring best practices.
  • Use automation and scripting to improve deployment efficiency and system scalability.
  • Support QA/UAT cycles, ensuring deliverables meet business and usability expectations.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for long-term knowledge sharing.
