Purpose of Position

As aSoftware Engineer I, you will participate in the complete software development lifecycle—from design and architecture to system integration, usability, and delivery. You will play a dual role: maintaining critical legacy systems while actively contributing toa modern Lakehouse Platform. You’ll collaborate closely with fellow engineers, product owners, and management to deliver high-quality, scalable SaaS solutions in a fast-paced, agile environment.

This role emphasizes hands-on development, performance tuning, testing, and production support. A key focus is adopting a "moving left" philosophy by utilizing local Kubernetes environments for early validation of containerized services before deployment. You will adhere to best practices in security, privacy, and compliance, specifically within the context ofaprivate cloud-based environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Design, develop, test, and deliver new features and software applications.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including architectural designs and improvement proposals.
  • Analyze and tune application performance; proactively identify and address scalability and reliability risks.
  • Conduct code reviews and contribute to maintaining high-quality standards across the codebase.
  • Support release management to ensure smooth deployment and maintenance of production systems.
  • Investigate, debug, and resolve escalated production issues.
  • "Moving Left" Development: Implement a "moving left" development strategy by setting up local development environments usingKubernetes that mirror production infrastructure, allowing for early detection of integration issues in containerized services.
  • Write unit tests and contribute to automated testing strategies.
  • Design and implement logging, error-handling patterns, and performance monitoring dashboards.
  • Identify and optimize slow-performing SQL queries and system bottlenecks.
  • Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and status updates to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and federal regulations related to security, privacy, accessibility, and ethical AI use.
