Position Summary
About the Lab
The Fyshe Lab studies the intersection of machine learning, natural language processing, and cognitive neuroscience - with a focus on how large language models represent meaning and how those representations compare to human neural activity. Our work spans behavioral experiments, EEG, and fMRI, alongside computational modeling of language models.
About the Role
We're looking for a Lab Manager to help keep our research running smoothly. You'll support the day-to-day operation of behavioral, EEG, and fMRI studies - from participant scheduling through to data handling - and help the lab stay organized as we juggle multiple concurrent projects. No prior experience with fMRI, EEG, or behavioral testing is required, but experience with any of these is an asset. Coding experience (e.g., Python) is preferred, as you may help with basic data organization, preprocessing scripts, or lab tooling.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Partial completion of an undergraduate degree in Psychology or Computing Science or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed at least two years of their undergraduate program.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable managing multiple ongoing tasks and communicating with study participants
- Ability to work independently and reliably on a part-time schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with EEG, fMRI, or behavioral experiment software (e.g., PsychoPy, E-Prime, EEGLAB, or similar)
- Programming experience, especially Python and Matlab
- Background or coursework in cognitive science, neuroscience, psychology, computing science, or a related field
- Experience designing experiments and choosing stimuli
- Familiarity with research ethics processes (REB applications)
