Warner Robins, GA 31088-7810Job Details:Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a research institute of Mercer University, provides high quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services to both government and private industry customers.
MERC has an immediate opening for Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer(s) to support its Aircraft Directorate.


Duties of the position may include:

- Analysis of airframe structures using standard principles, supported by finite element analysis as necessary

- Fatigue and fracture analysis of airframe components

- Analysis of flight data to support regime recognition, fleet usage characterization, and component remaining useful life

- CAD modeling and development of technical data packages to support repair design and analysis

- Design of laboratory load tests and instrumentation to support validation of repair design and structural models

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- U.S. Citizenship is required

- Successful candidates must be capable of obtaining a DoD security clearance

- This position requires a minimum B.S. or higher degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.

Final rank will be determined on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Experience with finite element modeling and analysis

* Experience reading engineering drawings

* Experience with instrumentation design and post-processing of test data

* Ability to multi-task and learn new skills quickly

* Ability to work independently or in multi-functional teams

* Good verbal and written communication skills

* Experience with NX or MSC Nastran, HyperWorks pre- and post-processing tools or FEA solvers, Python and/or MATLAB, or SolidWorks
