Job description

Join Us At Remark

Remark is reshaping the e-commerce landscape by harnessing the power of AI and personalized support to solve a critical problem: the low conversion rates plaguing online shopping. Our platform connects shoppers with trained product experts, using AI to enhance every interaction and turn browsing into buying. With Remark, we're not just selling products; we're providing a seamless, personalized shopping experience that boosts revenue and builds loyalty.

We're a mix of visionaries, tech enthusiasts, and, frankly, a few eccentrics who've sharpened our skills at giants like Amazon, Microsoft, and Salesforce. Now, we're channeling our collective expertise into building an environment that values curiosity, innovation, and a bit of fun along the way.

What We're Looking For

As a Machine Learning Engineer working on Remark's core platform, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and testing features that change the way consumers buy online! Do you love solving complex AI problems, developing strategy and roadmaps, and working in a highly collaborative environment? If so, this could be the perfect match.

We build on a modern stack centered around TypeScript. Major elements include NestJS, Prisma, Bull, LangChain, and GraphQL. Ownership is a big facet of the culture at Remark, and as such we encourage strong input from each team member. If you feel strongly about building with something else, we'll hear you out.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and enhance our LLM-based operations and pipelines.
  • Work on cutting-edge role-playing and persona duplication techniques.
  • Report directly to our Chief Technology Officer.
  • Develop actionable roadmaps for new capabilities, and work with the engineering team execute on that roadmap.
  • Implement comprehensive evals for new capabilities.
  • Balance speed and quality, with a focus on tangible results.
  • Participate in frequent code-reviews with fellow team members.
Qualifications
  • Strong background in Deep Learning, Machine Learning, and NLP.
  • Proficient in JavaScript and Python.
  • Expertise in building applications leveraging LLMs, with an understanding of performance, latency, and deployment considerations.
  • Familiarity with LLM-enabled tooling, including frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex), vector databases, caching solutions (Redis), and monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of secure deployment practices and robustness against prompt injection.
  • Passion for solving customer problems, developing strategies and roadmaps, and executing those plans to bring value to our business and customers.
  • Experience with using qualitative and quantitative data (especially from A/B tests) to make engineering decisions. You also know when and how to balance data with intuition.
Bonus Points If
  • You have cool open source contributions
  • You thrive when things move fast
  • You've seen a mountain goat
Benefits
  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Full healthcare benefits (medical, dental, vision)
  • Flexible PTO (at least 15 days / year recommended)
  • At least 1 company retreat to Colorado annually
  • $500 expense reimbursement for qualified fitness and outdoor recreation activities
