The Engineer, Data reports directly to the Associate Head of Data Engineering and is responsible for developing and supporting the data management and analytics platforms, including data infrastructure, to support the evolution of travel products. The Engineer, Data is focused on the design and development of data ingestion, processing and storage pipelines, as well as the transformation of raw data into business insights that enable Paisly to become a digital disruptor. This role leans heavily on engineering but also collaborates heavily with Paisly's matrix partners and external business partners.

Essential Responsibilities

• Design, develop and manage data management products from conception to retirement.
• Collaborate with the data engineering team to deliver with consistency, high quality and predictability.
• Create and promote a work environment focused on engineering excellence to attract, develop and encourage a culture of technical innovation.
• Partner with product management and Marketing teams and help develop the product vision and roadmap.
• Create the Paisly data infrastructure and analytics environments, understand the data and provide support for key business decisions.
• Participate in the DevOps practice as it pertains to data engineering.
• Help establish frameworks, design and integration patterns as well as guide the software development performed by business partners.
• Help manage a collection of external technology products used to deliver business products.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience.
• Three (3) years' experience in an engineering role.
• Good understanding of software engineering environments and standards.
• Good understanding of version control, review and development cycles.
• Deep understanding of internet technologies, protocols and methodologies for delivering web-based products.
• Experience in Python, performance and optimization techniques
• Experience in SQL, understanding of database concepts, and data structures
• Experience managing service level agreements (SLA's).
• Experience interacting daily with people at different levels within the organization, including developing and maintaining ongoing relationships.
• Available for occasional overnight travel (10%).
• Must pass a ten (10) year background check.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position islocated.
• Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

• Five (5) years' experience in technology roles.
• Experience maintaining a public profile and building relationships throughout the organization.
• Experience in writing software in one or more languages such as Java, Shell, Go and/or JavaScript.
• Experience architecting, developing software, or internet scale production-grade Big Data solutions in virtualized environments such as Amazon Web Services, Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience using Big Data Ingestion products such as BigQuery, DataFlow, Apache Beam, Pub/Sub.

• Able to maintain a professional appearance.
• When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft.
