About Castellum.AI
Castellum.AI is an AI layer for compliance infrastructure. We provide intelligence data, AI-driven screening across Sanction, PEPs, and Adverse Media, and AI Agents to resolve alerts. Our customers have seen results like reducing their false positive rate by 94% via our screening engine and reducing the amount of time analysts spend on alerts by 80% by using our AI Agents. Our customers include top global banks, Fortune 50s, top payments companies, digital assets companies and multiple governments and we're scaling quickly to meet demand.
What you'll own
  • The scrapers that feed the platform. Build and maintain the scrapers pulling in sanctions lists, watchlists, and regulatory sources
  • Our Python ETL pipelines. Turn raw data into something the product can trust, and scale the pipelines as we add sources and volume.
  • Data quality and freshness. You'll keep what lands in the platform accurate, current, and deduplicated
  • New sources, end to end. Take a source from "we need this" to live in the pipeline.
  • More of the stack, over time. Room to grow into our Go API, AI agents, and TypeScript/React frontend as you ramp and depending on your interests.

What your week actually looks like
  • ~1 hour/day in meetings. Standup, sprint planning, retro. We keep it light.
  • The rest of the day is building. Writing and maintaining web scrapers, building and improving our Python ETL pipelines, and getting new data sources into the platform cleanly and reliably.
  • Ownership that grows with you. You'll start with well-scoped projects and plenty of support, and take on more end-to-end ownership as you ramp.

We run a modern stack (Docker, Kubernetes, and similar tooling), and you have a dedicated DevOps engineer handling the heavy infrastructure lifting so you can stay focused on building.

What we're looking for
Required
  • 0-4 years of experience building software: professional experience, internships, or strong personal/open-source projects all count.
  • Python experience
  • Comfort working with data and relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar)
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • You get real value out of AI developer tools
  • You're excited to work at a start up on a small, fast-moving team

Nice to have
  • Experience building web scrapers or ETL / data pipelines
  • Exposure to Go or TypeScript/React (or a strong desire to learn them)
  • Experience with Elasticsearch, gRPC/protobufs
  • Experience building AI agents
  • Prior startup or small, fast-moving team experience

  • Fully remote, US-based, working Eastern hours.
  • We work hard but we don't burn out. Expect ~45-50 hour weeks. Life happens, and there's real flexibility when it does.
  • We like each other. We have as much fun as we can while we work, and it's genuinely exciting to watch the business take off.

A straightforward hiring process:
We move fast and we don't believe in endless interview loops. Most candidates can move at their own pace, as quickly as four days. Every stage is designed to be a real conversation.
  • Intro Call: Meet with our CTO to talk through the role.
  • Architecture Interview: We'll take a larger problem and break it down together on a virtual whiteboard. We're looking at how you structure a solution and reason about the pieces, not whether you memorized anything.
  • Coding Interview: Solve a problem and walk us through your thinking. We care more about how you approach it than about a perfect answer.
  • Final Round: Meet people outside of engineering, get a feel for the wider team, and ask us anything about the business.

Compensation
$100,000-$130,000 base, plus equity. This is a rare chance to earn meaningful equity while working on a mission with real-world impact.
