Python Intern information

What does a Python intern do?

A Python Intern typically assists in developing, testing, and maintaining software applications using the Python programming language. They may work on tasks such as writing scripts, debugging code, automating processes, and collaborating with team members on various projects. Interns often gain hands-on experience with frameworks, libraries, and tools commonly used in Python development. The role is designed to help them build practical skills and prepare for a full-time career in software engineering.

What types of projects can a Python intern expect to work on during their internship?

As a Python Intern, you will typically be involved in supporting ongoing development projects, such as building automation scripts, data analysis tools, or assisting with backend web development. Interns often collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, or QA teams to contribute code, debug issues, and participate in code reviews. The scope of projects may vary by company, but most internships provide hands-on experience with real codebases, exposure to version control systems like Git, and opportunities to learn best practices from experienced mentors.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Python intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Python Intern, you need a solid understanding of Python programming fundamentals, problem-solving ability, and typically a background in computer science or related coursework. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, basic knowledge of frameworks such as Django or Flask, and experience using code editors or IDEs are common technical requirements. Initiative, willingness to learn, and effective communication help interns stand out by enabling collaboration and adaptability in team environments. These skills ensure that interns can contribute effectively to projects, learn quickly, and integrate smoothly into professional development workflows.

What is the difference between Python Intern vs Python Developer?

AspectPython InternPython Developer
Required CredentialsTypically pursuing or recently completed a degree in computer science or related fieldProven experience, often with a degree or equivalent in computer science or related field
Work EnvironmentInternship programs, entry-level projects, supervised tasksFull-time roles, independent project work, team collaboration
Employer & Industry UsageTech companies, startups, educational institutionsTech firms, software companies, enterprise environments
Common Search & ComparisonEntry-level, learning, internship opportunitiesProfessional, full-time employment, career growth

The main difference between a Python Intern and a Python Developer lies in experience and responsibilities. Interns are usually students or recent graduates gaining initial exposure, working under supervision. Developers are experienced professionals responsible for designing, coding, and maintaining software solutions independently. Internships serve as a stepping stone toward becoming a full-fledged Python Developer.

Job description

RF Front-End EM Design Co-Op (Summer/Fall 2027)
Posting Start Date: 8/14/26
Job Location(s): Newbury Park
If you are looking for a challenging and exciting career in the world of technology, then look no further. Skyworks is an innovator of high-performance analog semiconductors whose solutions are powering the wireless networking revolution. Through our broad technology expertise and one of the most extensive product portfolios in the industry, we are Connecting Everyone and Everything, All the Time.
At Skyworks, you will find a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on global collaboration, minimal layers of management, and the freedom to make meaningful contributions in a setting that encourages creative thinking. We are excited about the opportunity to work with you and glad you want to be part of a team of talented individuals who together are changing the way the world communicates.
Requisition ID: 78208
Job Description:
Description
The RF Front-End EM Design Co-op will support the design, electromagnetic (EM) simulation, and optimization of passive components and integrated RF front-end modules (FEMs) - including filters, couplers, baluns, matching networks, and interconnects across laminate, IPD, and package/module technologies. Inthis role, you will work alongside senior RF and EM design engineers to model structures, correlate simulations to measured data, and contribute to real product development.
What you will gain:
  • Real, shippable RF front-end design experience at an industry leader.
  • Mentorship from senior RF/EM design engineers.
  • Exposure to the full design-to-silicon/module flow, from EM modeling to measured correlation.
  • A collaborative, fast-paced environment working on 5G, Wi-Fi 6E/7, and next-gen connectivity products.

Responsibilities
  • Build and run 2.5D/3D electromagnetic simulations of RF passive structures (filters, matching networks, transmission lines, baluns, spiral inductors, transitions).
  • Extract S-parameters and develop EM-based models; integrate them into circuit-level simulations and system co-simulation.
  • Optimize passive layouts for insertion loss, isolation, return loss, Q-factor, and size in multilayer laminate / IPD / wafer-level packaging.
  • Correlate EM simulation results against measured (VNA / load-pull) data and refine models.
  • Support layout, DRC-aware design, and design-of-experiments (DoE) studies for performance and manufacturability.
  • Document methodology, results, and design trade-offs; present findings to the engineering team.

Required Experience and Skills
  • Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetics, RF/Microwave Engineering, or a related field.
  • Able to work onsite for 6 months during June - December 2027.
  • Coursework in electromagnetics, RF/microwave circuit design, and transmission line theory.
  • Understanding of S-parameters, impedance matching, resonators, and filter fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with at least one EM simulation tool (ANSYS HFSS, Keysight ADS/Momentum, Sonnet, EMX, or CST).
  • Basic scripting for automation and data analysis (Python or MATLAB).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Desired Experience and Skills
  • Hands-on experience with HFSS or ADS Momentum for passive structure design.
  • Knowledge of RF front-end architectures (PA, LNA, switch, filter/duplexer modules) and FEM integration.
  • Exposure to module/package technologies (laminate, IPD, WLP, flip-chip) and their EM effects.
  • Understanding of filter design (acoustic/BAW/SAW, LC, cavity) and matching network synthesis.
  • Lab experience with VNA measurement, calibration, and de-embedding.
  • Familiarity with layout tools (Cadence Virtuoso, AWR) and version control.
