A Python Intern typically assists in developing, testing, and maintaining software applications using the Python programming language. They may work on tasks such as writing scripts, debugging code, automating processes, and collaborating with team members on various projects. Interns often gain hands-on experience with frameworks, libraries, and tools commonly used in Python development. The role is designed to help them build practical skills and prepare for a full-time career in software engineering.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Python Intern, and why are they important?

Job description

Intern, Agent Development - Spanish Voice AI (Native speaker)
Blue Machines AI • Baltimore, MD • Full-Time Internship • 3 Months
About Blue Machines AI
Blue Machines AI is building enterprise-grade Voice AI agents for complex, real-world customer conversations. Our agents help large enterprises automate support, sales, operations, and high-volume workflows across voice and conversational channels.
Blue Machines is built by apna, one of India's fastest billion-dollar companies, and is backed by world-class investors including Tiger Global, Lightspeed, Peak XV, Insight Partners, Greenoaks, Owl Ventures, GSV Ventures, and Maverick Ventures.
We focus on production-grade AI - low latency, high reliability, multilingual fluency, strong guardrails, and deep enterprise workflow integration. Our platform is designed for the realities of enterprise voice AI: noisy environments, interruptions, code-switching, outdated CRMs, complex workflows, compliance needs, and hallucination risk.
As we expand into Spanish-speaking and Spanish-English environments, we are looking for an intern who can help us build, test, and improve AI agents that work naturally across Spanish, English, and Spanglish conversations.
What You'll Do
Blue Machines AI is building the next generation of enterprise Voice AI agents - and we're looking for interns who want to help us build them.
As an Intern, Agent Development - Spanish+ Voice AI, you'll work directly on production AI agents for enterprise customers. You'll gain hands-on experience contributing to agent design, prompt engineering, evaluation, and real-world deployment quality.
This role sits at the intersection of AI systems, product development, and multilingual voice experience. You'll help us understand where Spanish and Spanglish agents fail - and help make them better.
Responsibilities
Build and Improve AI Agents
  • Help design, test, and refine prompts for Spanish and Spanish-English voice agents.
  • Work on agent behavior across real conversational flows, including interruptions, clarifications, fallback paths, and escalation logic.
  • Translate customer use cases into agent instructions, conversation flows, and test scenarios.
  • Improve how agents handle code-switching, slang, regional phrasing, formality shifts, and natural spoken Spanish.

Test Voice AI Systems
  • Stress-test agent performance across Spanish, English, and Spanglish conversations.
  • Test STT and TTS quality across Spanish accents, dialects, pronunciation, and mixed-language speech.
  • Evaluate where the agent breaks down - poor comprehension, robotic responses, wrong tone, hallucination, latency, or missed intent.
  • Create test cases and evaluation rubrics for Spanish-language agent quality.

Work on AI Evaluation and Quality
  • Review AI-generated responses for accuracy, naturalness, tone, and cultural fit.
  • Help define success metrics for Spanish voice agents, including comprehension, task completion, escalation rate, and response quality.
  • Document failure patterns and work with product and engineering teams to improve agent performance.
  • Help prepare demos, evaluations, and internal benchmarks for Spanish voice AI use cases.

What You'll Bring
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Native or near-native Spanish fluency, with strong understanding of Hispanic / Latin American spoken language and culture.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills, especially in fast-changing, ambiguous environments.
  • A builder and tinkerer's mindset with high agency - you find creative ways to overcome obstacles, test ideas, and ship.
  • Curiosity about LLMs, AI agents, voice AI, prompt engineering, and conversational systems.

Even Better
  • Experience building with LLMs, AI agents, chatbots, voice AI tools, or prompt engineering.
  • Familiarity with eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, STT/TTS systems, or AI testing workflows.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, notebooks, spreadsheets, or basic data analysis.
  • Familiarity with multiple Spanish dialects, such as Mexican, Colombian, Caribbean, Central American, or US Hispanic Spanish.
  • You have built an AI side project, chatbot, voice agent, or LLM-based workflow.

Internship Details
  • Location: US
  • Type: Full-time internship
  • Duration: 3 months
  • Team: Agent Development + Product / Voice AI Delivery / Presales

What You'll Get
  • Hands-on experience building production enterprise Voice AI agents.
  • Direct exposure to LLMs, voice AI pipelines, prompt engineering, and agent evaluation.
  • Mentorship from senior product, engineering, and AI leaders.
  • A portfolio-worthy body of work in applied AI and multilingual voice systems.
  • Opportunity to work on real customer use cases at enterprise scale.
  • Potential for full-time conversion based on performance.

Compensation
Competitive internship stipend.
How to Apply
Send your resume and a short note on why you are excited about AI agents and voice AI
Bonus: Include a short Spanish-English or Spanglish conversation that you think would be difficult for an AI voice agent to handle well, and explain what makes it hard.
