2026 Future Talent Program – Information Science Intern

Merck invites a highly motivated university student to join our Information Sciences team in Rahway, NJ for a 12‑week summer internship (May/June to August 2026). The internship offers hands‑on experience in system maintenance, webpage creation, publication data curation, and data management related to drug development, within a cross‑divisional research environment.

Responsibilities

Under close supervision, the intern will:
• Develop and maintain internal web pages
• Curate and process publication data for research use
• Support data management activities in the drug development pipeline
• Contribute to projects that enhance scientific communication and information science tools.

Education Minimum Requirement
  • Candidates must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, material science, or pharmaceutical science.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Completed at least one year of organic chemistry.
  • GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Detail‑oriented and able to work independently to drive tasks to completion.
  • Available for full‑time employment for 10–12 weeks during May/June through August 2026.
  • Strong educational background or experience in chemistry or biochemistry preferred.
  • Experience with HTML, Visual Basic, Python, or R is preferred.
