Python Intern information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Python Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Python Intern, you need a solid understanding of Python programming fundamentals, problem-solving ability, and typically a background in computer science or related coursework. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, basic knowledge of frameworks such as Django or Flask, and experience using code editors or IDEs are common technical requirements. Initiative, willingness to learn, and effective communication help interns stand out by enabling collaboration and adaptability in team environments. These skills ensure that interns can contribute effectively to projects, learn quickly, and integrate smoothly into professional development workflows.

What types of projects can a Python Intern expect to work on during their internship?

As a Python Intern, you will typically be involved in supporting ongoing development projects, such as building automation scripts, data analysis tools, or assisting with backend web development. Interns often collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, or QA teams to contribute code, debug issues, and participate in code reviews. The scope of projects may vary by company, but most internships provide hands-on experience with real codebases, exposure to version control systems like Git, and opportunities to learn best practices from experienced mentors.

What does a Python Intern do?

A Python Intern typically assists in developing, testing, and maintaining software applications using the Python programming language. They may work on tasks such as writing scripts, debugging code, automating processes, and collaborating with team members on various projects. Interns often gain hands-on experience with frameworks, libraries, and tools commonly used in Python development. The role is designed to help them build practical skills and prepare for a full-time career in software engineering.

Job description

Insight is excited to announce our 2026 Summer Internship program! We are looking for motivated rising college seniors to join our 10-week, full-time, paid internship starting on June 1, 2026.
Join us at the forefront of the AI revolution. As an Intern Gemini Enterprise AI Specialist, you will support the development of next-generation productivity tools using Gemini Enterprise and Vertex AI. This is not a passive role; you will be hands-on, helping to prototype ideas, test new features in Workspace Studio, and document successful use cases.
You will learn how to bridge the gap between technical infrastructure and end-user productivity. Your goal is to help the team identify patterns in customer needs and assist in building "packaged" solutions that can be used again and again.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Undergraduate degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Classroom or project experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and basic AI/ML concepts.
  • Available for the full internship duration from June 1 to August 7, 2026
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work on-site at our Insight office

Required Skills:
  • Basic Cloud Knowledge: Familiarity with core cloud concepts (compute, storage, identity).
  • Coding Basics: Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python or JavaScript/Apps Script).
  • AI/LLM Interest: Understanding of how Large Language Models work and interest in prompt engineering.
  • Workspace Familiarity: High comfort level with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and an interest in automating tasks within them.
  • Prototyping: Ability to build simple "proof of concept" demos to test an idea.

Useful Qualifications
  • Experience with Google Apps Script or low-code platforms (like AppSheet).
  • Previous internship experience in a technical role.
  • Personal projects demonstrating the use of OpenAI API, Gemini, or similar tools.

Join us for an enriching internship experience where you can develop valuable skills and contribute to impactful projects. Apply now and be a part of our dynamic team at Insight!
