They may work on tasks such as writing scripts, debugging code, automating processes, and collaborating with team members on various projects. Interns often gain hands-on experience with frameworks, libraries, and tools commonly used in Python development. The role is designed to help them build practical skills and prepare for a full-time career in software engineering.

What types of projects can a Python intern expect to work on during their internship?

As a Python Intern, you will typically be involved in supporting ongoing development projects, such as building automation scripts, data analysis tools, or assisting with backend web development. Interns often collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, or QA teams to contribute code, debug issues, and participate in code reviews. The scope of projects may vary by company, but most internships provide hands-on experience with real codebases, exposure to version control systems like Git, and opportunities to learn best practices from experienced mentors.

To thrive as a Python Intern, you need a solid understanding of Python programming fundamentals, problem-solving ability, and typically a background in computer science or related coursework. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, basic knowledge of frameworks such as Django or Flask, and experience using code editors or IDEs are common technical requirements. Team Description:

For Neuralink's Information Technology team, the corporate environment is production. It is where our groundbreaking research and development takes place and hosts our assembly lines, neural recording processing, and many other functions. The team builds critical systems and processes that safely accelerate our progress along the company's critical path.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

Neuralink is looking for a motivated IT Systems Administrator Intern to serve as a primary point of contact for end-user technical support across our Fremont campus. In this role, you will focus on Helpdesk T1 and T2 support, handling day-to-day tickets, device troubleshooting, and user onboarding and offboarding - while also having the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from full-time IT Systems Administrators on broader infrastructure and systems projects.

  • Serve as a first point of contact for T1 and T2 Helpdesk support, triaging and resolving end-user tickets across macOS, Windows, and Linux environments

  • Support user onboarding and offboarding processes including account provisioning and deprovisioning in identity platforms (Google Workspace, Okta, or Microsoft Entra)
  • Troubleshoot L1 and L2 connectivity issues including Wi-Fi, VPN, and basic VLAN-related problems, escalating to FTE Systems Administrators as needed
  • Assist with hardware asset management including inventory tracking, asset tagging, and lifecycle documentation
  • Support conference room AV equipment maintenance, including troubleshooting displays, video conferencing systems, and audio hardware
  • Create and maintain Helpdesk documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles to support team efficiency and knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate with FTE IT Systems Administrators on projects spanning endpoint management, identity and access management, SaaS administration, and security

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Foundational understanding of operating systems including macOS, Windows, or Linux (coursework or personal experience counts)
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support a diverse, non-technical user base with patience and empathy
  • Eagerness to learn, take initiative on Helpdesk tasks, and collaborate effectively with full-time IT team members

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Helpdesk, IT support, or customer-facing technical support experience (internship, part-time, or volunteer experience welcome)
  • Familiarity with an MDM platform such as Jamf, Intune, or Kandji
  • Experience with Google Workspace, Slack, or Zoom administration
  • Basic scripting knowledge in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automating routine IT tasks
