Job description

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
You will design and develop AI-enabled software solutions that accelerate productivity across Emerson's Test & Measurement business unit, NI, using a breadth of tools beginning with Microsoft Copilot and Power Platform. You will rapidly prototype and iterate on ideas, using AI to quickly learn new technologies and deliver working solutions with short feedback loops. You will integrate applications with enterprise systems-initially within the Microsoft ecosystem and expanding to platforms such as Snowflake, Salesforce, and Oracle. You will collaborate closely with product owners, analysts, and business partners to validate needs and deliver solutions that create measurable value. You will also build reusable patterns and guide others in effective use of AI tools, strengthening developer enablement across NI. Throughout your work, you will navigate ambiguity confidently, adapt to shifting priorities, and uphold high standards for software quality, security, and reliability.
Who You Are:
You are a hands-on senior engineer who thrives in fast-moving environments and enjoys building solutions that solve real business problems. You learn quickly, adapt confidently to new technologies, and are energized by ambiguity. You are not afraid to experiment, fail fast, and iterate toward better solutions. You communicate clearly, collaborate broadly, and are comfortable presenting new tools or prototypes to both technical and non-technical audiences. You enjoy enabling others as much as building yourself.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • This role is in Austin, Texas
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including delivery of production-quality applications.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language, with experience in Python and modern web frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience building applications that integrate LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).
  • Experience developing full-stack applications, integrating AI capabilities into intuitive user interfaces and stable back-end services.
  • Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms, including containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of RAG architectures, vector databases, embeddings, and semantic search concepts.
  • Proven ability to rapidly prototype solutions, validate approaches, and iterate quickly.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present and demonstrate technology to business partners.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Azure AI services (Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, AI Foundry).
  • Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen).
  • Experience working with enterprise data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake).
  • Experience with MLOps tools and model lifecycle practices.
  • Knowledge of industrial, manufacturing, or test & measurement domains.
  • Prior experience collaborating within globally distributed teams.

Technical Skills
  • Languages: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL
  • AI/ML: LLM APIs, RAG architectures, prompt engineering, embeddings, vector stores
  • Front-End: React, HTML/CSS, responsive design, UI/UX fundamentals
  • Back-End: FastAPI, Flask, REST APIs, microservices
  • Cloud/DevOps: Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Git
  • Data: SQL databases; vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Azure AI Search; data pipelines
