Full Stack AI Engineer
Founded in 1999 in the beautiful Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, Cadre5 provides innovative technical solutions to our customers locally and nationally. Our Cadre5 Lab Partners division has partnered with the National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) to recruit a highly motivated and adaptable Full Stack AI Engineer to support the American Science Cloud / Genesis Project. You will play a key role in designing and developing modern, intelligent user interfaces powered by emerging Agentic AI systems.
AmSC is a first-of-its-kind, federally funded cloud infrastructure and API platform designed to accelerate AI model development, data sharing, and large-scale computational science across the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). ORNL is a premier research institution delivering breakthroughs in energy, national security, and advanced computing.
ORNL delivers scientific discoveries and technical breakthroughs needed to realize solutions in energy and national security and provides economic benefit to the nation. This premier research institution located near Knoxville in Oak Ridge, TN, addresses national needs through impactful research and world-leading research centers.
This is a full-time, permanent position that requires 100% on-site work.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain responsive, high-performance front-end applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI-driven features into user interfaces
  • Work within fast-paced, iterative development cycles to deliver production-ready solutions
  • Implement and optimize workflows leveraging Agentic AI frameworks
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and front-end best practices
  • Integrate APIs and backend services using modern development standards
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement processes
  • Support deployment and scaling of applications within the American Science Cloud ecosystem
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in front-end or full-stack development
  • Strong proficiency in:
    • JavaScript
    • Python
    • MCP (Model Context Protocol or similar frameworks)
  • Experience working with Agentic AI systems or AI-driven development environments
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Claude Code and OpenClaw
  • Proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic project environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, “can-do” mindset
  • U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience working on large-scale cloud-based platforms or government-related projects
  • Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, etc.)
  • Experience integrating AI/ML models into production applications
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and performance optimization
