About the Role

We are seeking a Fullstack Developer (Python) reporting to our Associate Director of Engineering to join one of our Product team. The candidate will be focusing on building high quality and performance features for our product. They will be playing a key role in the team's technical work and work closely with senior team members to ensure the work is well-sequenced, maintainable, and aligned with broader product goals. They will bring a critical-thinking and solution-oriented mindset to everything they do, with a strong focus on continuous delivery, monitoring, and delivering real-world impact in a highly collaborative environment. 

Expect a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of purpose, where your contributions will shape how care is delivered in the home and drive innovation in a critical area of healthcare. 

What You'll Do 
  • Design, code, test, and debug software as a full-time member of a product development team, with a strong focus on quality, maintainability, and reliable delivery.
  • Spend 75% or more of your time coding and contributing directly to the team's deliverables.
  • Participate actively in code reviews, technical discussions, knowledge-sharing, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Apply established engineering patterns and contribute to improving component reuse, extensibility, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Monitor applications in production, investigate issues, and work with the team to resolve problems affecting clients.
  • Contribute to technical roadmap initiatives and support the responsible adoption of technologies and practices that align with product and engineering objectives.
  • In the future, participate in an on-call rotation that respects your time and supports the software owned by your team.
  • Identify gaps or ambiguities in product requirements and collaborate with Product Owners and team members to design solutions that meet client needs.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain end-to-end automated tests that support the delivery of high-quality software.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the core concepts, tools, and practices of your craft, and share knowledge with teammates when appropriate.
  • Recognize potential problems and delivery barriers, raise concerns early, and seek support from senior team members or management when needed.
  • Take ownership of assigned work from design through production, while progressively expanding your technical knowledge and responsibilities. 
What You Bring to the Team 
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, or any related fields.
  • 1-2+ years professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience developing applications in Python and writing unit tests using PyTest or a similar testing framework.
  • Familiarity with PHP and JavaScript; experience with Vue.js or a similar front-end framework is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL, Git, CI/CD practices, and containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • Exposure to object-relational mapping tools such as SQLAlchemy and cloud computing platforms; AWS experience is an asset.
  • An interest in staying current with software development practices, tools, performance, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of AI-assisted development practices combined with a proactive approach to keeping pace with advancements
  • Ability to analyze technical problems, evaluate possible solutions, and seek guidance when appropriate.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset
