onsemi is seeking a Defect Engineer at our Hopewell Junction East Fishkill Site, NY.  As a Defect Engineer in this position, develop and deploy inline inspection strategies to reduce MTTD (mean time to detect) and drive defect improvement to meet industry competitive yield standards.  Defect engineers provide analysis and subject-matter expertise to identify signals, excursions, and opportunities for continuous improvement.   The position's primary focus is to develop and improve the defect yield management system.  This includes maintaining and improving data mining capabilities and analysis techniques, especially through the implementation of a new AI agent.  They work with technical experts in integration and process engineering to solve complex technical problems that contribute to yield loss, and map business processes to innovate and create new applications for future needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education - BS Degree in Engineering, Data Science, or Statistics
  • Strong, effective communication and Leadership/Teamwork skills are required.
  • Language Fluency - Fluent in English Language - written & verbal
  • Familiar with Java, Python, R, or other modern programming languages

Salary:onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is$75,00 to $120,400 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of the internal equity of our current team members.   • Generate defect Pareto charts, identify the root causes of top defects, and work with module teams to drive continuous improvement to meet industry-competitive D0 targets.
  • Work with defect application engineers to improve DOI (defect of interest) detection.
  • Create and execute DOE (design of experiments), analyze data, and communicate results with recommendations to broader technical teams.
  • Develop and deploy defect monitoring and improvement strategies and applications

  • Understand statistical concepts, such as multivariate and univariate analysis
  • Document business processes and application specifications to sustain business impact
  • Demonstrate project management skills, such as defining milestones and estimating timelines to complete activities.
