Job description

Description

We're hiring a Network Automation Engineer to build our network automation platform. This is a NetDevOps role with a network domain focus. You'll write production code, build tooling, and establish DevOps practices to automate a service provider network. ย 

Candidates must be able to work from the Boise, ID office on a regular basis. ย Preference will be given to those currently residing in or able to reliably commute to the Boise area.

What You'll Do: (Team Objectives)ย 

  • Design and build production network automation platforms using Python and Jinja2ย 
  • Implement and operate our Network Source of Truth (schema design, version control and data modeling)ย 
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines with testing, validation, and rollback mechanismsย 
  • Develop integrations between network systems and organizational data sources (APIs, data synchronization, automation workflows)ย 
  • Define data models, schemas, and validation rules for network configurationย 
  • Implement compliance checks, drift detection, and self-service toolingย 
  • Interface with other teams across the company to integrate necessary toolingย 
  • Drive network data standardization and establish operational documentationย 

Requirements

Required Experienceย 

Software Development & DevOpsย 

  • Strong Python development skillsย 
  • Proficiency with Jinja2 templating and YAML/JSON data structuresย 
  • Experience with Python network libraries (Nornir, Napalm, Netmiko, or similar)ย 
  • CI/CD practices, Git workflows, and infrastructure as code principlesย 
  • Production automation experience with operational discipline, security controls, and best-practice alignmentย 
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs, data validation, authentication mechanisms, and testing frameworks ย 

Network Domain Knowledgeย 

  • Working understanding of IP networking, routing, and switching fundamentalsย 
  • Ability to read and understand network configurationsย 
  • Familiarity with dynamic routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, or IS-ISย 
  • Comfortable translating network requirements into codeย 

Highly Desirableย
