Senior Python/Django Developer โ€“ AI & Cloud Platform

Location: Hybrid โ€“ Kansas City, Missouri

Duration: 12-Month Contract with strong likelihood for extension and/or full-time hire

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Python/Django Developer to join a high-impact engineering initiative focused on building an AI-powered platform that streamlines project workflows and automates intelligent response generation within a large-scale enterprise environment.

This role will play a key part in developing backend systems, cloud-native services, AI integrations, and intelligent document retrieval capabilities within a modern Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem. The ideal candidate is highly hands-on, comfortable owning backend architecture and development, and excited about applying AI/LLM technologies in real-world enterprise applications.

This opportunity offers exposure to cutting-edge AI implementations, cloud engineering, and highly visible innovation initiatives supporting large operational teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python and Django
  • Build and support integrations with enterprise project management and workflow systems
  • Develop AI-powered processing pipelines leveraging Vertex AI and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures
  • Implement semantic search and intelligent document retrieval capabilities across large document repositories
  • Build and manage GCP-based infrastructure including compute, storage, messaging, and orchestration services
  • Create notification and workflow automation systems supporting operational review processes
  • Implement logging, monitoring, auditing, and traceability capabilities across backend systems
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Solution Architects, Product stakeholders, QA, and Design teams
  • Participate in code reviews and help establish engineering best practices
  • Support testing, deployment, and production readiness efforts
  • Contribute to technical documentation, architecture discussions, and deployment procedures

Required Qualifications

Backend Development

  • 5+ years of professional Python development experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Django and Django REST Framework
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API development and webhook/event-driven architectures
  • Experience building scalable backend services and asynchronous processing systems

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • Hands-on experience working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience with services such as:

  • Familiarity with GCP IAM, security practices, and cloud-native architecture patterns

AI / Machine Learning
