Job description

Role: Sr Python Developer

Location: Dallas, TX

Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior/Principal Python Developer with over 10 years of software engineering expertise to lead the design, development, and scaling of our core systems. In this role, you will act as a technical authority—driving system architecture, mentoring engineering teams, optimizing performance, and ensuring that our applications are secure, scalable, and resilient.

If you thrive on solving complex technical challenges, setting engineering standards, and making high-impact architectural decisions, we’d love to have you on board.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architecture & System Design: Design, build, and maintain highly scalable, low-latency, distributed backend systems and microservices using Python.

  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Lead architectural discussions, conduct high-standard code reviews, establish engineering best practices, and mentor mid-to-senior developers.

  • Performance Optimization: Diagnose performance bottlenecks, optimize database queries, and rewrite/refactor core application components for efficiency and concurrency.

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Drive cloud architecture strategies (AWS/Google Cloud Platform/Azure) using infrastructure-as-code, containerization, and automated CI/CD pipelines.

  • API & Data Integration: Design secure RESTful/GraphQL APIs, manage complex asynchronous tasks (Celery/AsyncIO), and oversee integration with relational and NoSQL databases.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers, Security teams, and Data Engineers to translate strategic business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with 7+ years of deep, hands-on experience using Python.

  • Core Expertise: Deep mastery of Python internals (e.g., GIL, AsyncIO, concurrency/multithreading, memory management, garbage collection).

  • Frameworks: Extensive experience with modern Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.

  • System Design & Distributed Systems: Proven track record of designing distributed, event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis) that handle high-volume data.

  • Databases & ORMs: Deep understanding of database modeling, query optimization, and schema design across PostgreSQL/MySQL as well as NoSQL systems (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch).

  • Cloud & DevOps: Strong proficiency with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure, alongside Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD tools.

  • Testing & Security: Mastery of unit, integration, and load testing (PyTest, Locust), with a strong focus on application security (OWASP standards, authorization/authentication).

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred / Good-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience with Data Engineering / Machine Learning pipelines (Pandas, PyTorch, Airflow).

  • Prior experience rewriting critical microservices in compiled languages (Rust, Go, or C++) for performance-critical components.

  • Active contributions to open-source Python projects or public technical writing/speaking.
