About the role
SGC is seeking a Technical Data Specialist (Intern) to support IT systems, data initiatives, and emerging technology projects within the Engineering & Technical Services team. This is a junior-level, hands-on internship designed for candidates seeking practical experience in data analytics, systems support, and technical consulting.
While more junior than the Data Analyst role, this position will contribute to similar deliverables under supervision, including dashboard development, reporting, data validation, and systems coordination using tools such as Power BI, Excel, and Salesforce.
The ideal candidate is analytical, technically curious, detail-oriented, and eager to work across both IT and data-focused projects. This internship provides exposure to real-world consulting engagements, operational systems, and innovation initiatives within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
What you'll do
Data Analysis & Reporting Support
  • Assist in gathering, cleaning, and organizing structured and unstructured data from systems such as Salesforce, Excel, ArcGIS, and internal databases.
  • Support development and maintenance of dashboards and reports in Power BI and Excel.
  • Perform data validation and quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Contribute to recurring reporting deliverables for internal leadership and client teams.
  • Help translate business requirements into structured data outputs.

IT & Systems Support
  • Assist with system configuration, documentation, and user support across multiple platforms.
  • Support data workflow improvements and basic automation efforts.
  • Help maintain data integrity across integrated systems.
  • Document processes, technical workflows, and system updates.
  • Provide technical support during project implementations as needed.

Project & Operational Support
  • Support cross-functional teams in tracking key metrics and project milestones.
  • Assist in preparing technical materials for internal and client-facing meetings.
  • Contribute to operational documentation, process mapping, and after-action reviews.
  • Support special projects within Engineering & Technical Services.

AI Solutions Investigation & Innovation
  • Research emerging AI tools and platforms that could improve internal workflows or client deliverables.
  • Assist in evaluating AI-powered analytics, automation, and reporting solutions.
  • Support pilot initiatives exploring AI integration into data processes.
  • Help document findings, use cases, risks, and potential implementation pathways.

Tool Exposure & Development
Gain hands-on experience with tools such as:

Qualifications
