What is a part-time python developer?

Python Developer Part Time jobs involve working with the Python programming language to build, maintain, or enhance software applications, but on a part-time basis. This means the developer typically works fewer hours than a full-time role, often ranging from 10 to 30 hours per week. Part-time Python developers may handle tasks like writing code, debugging, developing scripts, or integrating APIs, depending on the employer's needs. These roles are common in startups, remote teams, or companies with flexible work arrangements. The flexibility allows professionals to balance other commitments while contributing technical expertise.

What does a part-time python developer do?

Python is a programming language used for data analysis and visualization. Some of your responsibilities as a part-time Python developer are to write scalable and effective code, develop an application using user-facing elements, test and debug computer programs, and create backend components to improve performance and responsiveness. Your other duties include working within the existing framework to ensure that software fits the client’s needs, implementing data protection and security solutions, examining current systems to determine where improvements could be beneficial, and prioritizing and assessing feature requests to determine if these are feasible and something that you can implement.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part-time python developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Python Developer Part Time, you need strong programming skills in Python, experience with frameworks like Django or Flask, and a background in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, and cloud platforms is typically required. Effective time management, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills are essential soft skills for this role. These skills and qualities ensure you can efficiently deliver reliable code, collaborate with teams remotely, and adapt to project requirements in a flexible work environment.

What are the typical challenges faced by part-time python developers when integrating with full-time teams?

Part-time Python Developers often encounter challenges related to communication and staying updated with ongoing project developments, as they are not present during all team meetings or daily stand-ups. To overcome this, it's important to establish clear channels for asynchronous communication and regularly review project documentation or code repositories. Proactively syncing with team members and utilizing collaboration tools like Slack, Jira, or GitHub can help ensure smooth integration and contribution to the team's goals.

The Opportunity
Everyone is trying to "harness the cloud", but not everyone knows how. As a DevOps engineer, you're eager to build, automate, manage, and secure cloud environments that help development teams deliver modern web applications quickly and reliably. We need you to help us strengthen DevOps capabilities supporting our web application teams and solve some of our clients' toughest technical challenges.
As a DevOps engineer at Booz Allen, you'll use your technical skills to drive mission-forward change. On our team, you'll work alongside software engineers developing applications using technologies such as React, Node.js, and Python, while helping design and improve cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, networking, and deployment processes that support those applications. You'll work with technologies such as GitHub and GitHub Actions to automate builds, testing, and deployments across environments. You'll support containerized Linux workloads using Docker and Azure Container Registry, and help deploy applications using Azure services such as Azure Container Apps, Azure Web Apps, and Azure Functions.
Using your DevOps and Azure knowledge, you'll help improve application reliability, deployment consistency, security, and developer experience. You'll also support cloud architectures that use secure networking patterns, including Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), private endpoints, and private connectivity between application services and supporting resources. You'll collaborate with developers, architects, security teams, and other engineers to identify opportunities for automation, troubleshoot deployment and infrastructure issues, and establish repeatable patterns that make it easier for application teams to build and operate secure cloud-native solutions.
Work with us to use cloud platform technology for good. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.
Join us. The world can't wait.
You Have:
  • 2+ years of experience developing tools, automation, and processes that improve DevOps or DevSecOps maturity, including automated builds, testing, deployments, and release management across environments
  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting, triaging, and resolving CI/CD pipeline, deployment, or cloud infrastructure issues
  • Experience with Git-based software development workflows and CI/CD platforms such as GitHub and GitHub Actions
  • Experience deploying or supporting applications in Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with containerization using Docker, including Linux-based container builds
  • Experience developing, deploying, or supporting cloud-native web applications
  • Experience creating solutions to complex technical problems within a collaborative development team environment
  • Knowledge of cloud security, networking, and application deployment concepts
  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of experience in DevOps in lieu of a degree

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with Azure Container Apps, Azure Web Apps, or Azure Functions
  • Experience working with Azure Container Registry
  • Experience implementing Azure networking patterns using VNets, private endpoints, private DNS, or related private networking capabilities
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, and supporting applications developed using React, Node.js, or Python
  • Experience creating reusable deployment pipelines, infrastructure patterns, or developer tooling across multiple application teams
  • Experience troubleshooting open-source and commercial development tools in public cloud environments
  • Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code and automated cloud environment provisioning
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, including automated security scanning and secure software supply chain practices
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Linux shell scripting
