What is a Python developer OPT?

Python Developers (OPT) are professionals, often recent graduates on Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the United States, who specialize in developing software applications using the Python programming language. They work on tasks such as writing and testing code, debugging programs, and integrating new features into existing systems. Python Developers on OPT typically seek roles in web development, data analysis, machine learning, or automation, and their positions are often entry-level or early-career. Employers value their fresh academic knowledge and their ability to bring new perspectives to technical teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Python developer, and why are they important?

A Python Developer should have a strong grasp of Python programming, software development principles, and often a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with frameworks such as Django or Flask, version control systems like Git, and experience with databases are typically required. Problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and effective communication are critical soft skills for collaborating on projects and troubleshooting issues. These competencies ensure the delivery of robust, maintainable code and contribute to successful project outcomes in dynamic development environments.

How do Python developers typically collaborate with other teams during the software development lifecycle?

Python Developers often work closely with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, QA engineers, product managers, and DevOps specialists. Collaboration usually involves participating in code reviews, daily stand-ups, and sprint planning sessions to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines. Effective communication is key, as Python Developers may need to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and integrate their code with other systems or APIs. Utilizing version control systems like Git and agile methodologies helps streamline team workflows and ensures efficient project delivery.

Job description

Hadrian - Manufacturing the Future
Hadrian is building autonomous factories to reindustrialize America. By combining AI, advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing, we help aerospace and defense companies build rockets, satellites, aircraft, ships, and other mission-critical systems up to 10x faster and at significantly lower cost.
Following our $1.37B Series D at a $7.87B valuation, Hadrian is rapidly expanding our manufacturing footprint, launching new capabilities across welding, casting, forging, electronics, additive manufacturing, and more, while scaling our Factory-as-a-Service platform to transform how critical products are built.
Backed by leading investors including JPMorgan Chase, Valor Equity Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund, 137 Ventures, Lux Capital, T. Rowe Price, and Morgan Stanley, we're building the future of American manufacturing-and looking for exceptional people to help make it happen.
If you're ready to take on the most challenging and rewarding work of your career while helping create American manufacturing jobs for generations to come, you're exactly who we're looking for.
The Role
Candidates for this role could end up working with a number of our internal products and teams:
Flow is Hadrian's FactoryOS, our core platform comprised of a variety of applications that model, manage, and automate an extremely complex network of factories.
Copilotis our suite of manufacturing automation products which automates or accelerates key processes within the factory including quoting, CAM programming, and CMM programming.
Factory Automationdevelops robotic cells for use in our factories and the software that controls them.
We have a broad set of applications internally. Candidates interested in redefining manufacturing software will have ample opportunity to do so.
Note: You do not need to have aerospace, defense, or manufacturing experience to excel in this role
What You'll Do
  • Scope, architect, implement, and deploy critical applications that will drive revenue and make a positive impact in the world
  • Own a product vertical with the opportunity to build a team around yourself over time (if interested)
  • Work directly with our internal and external customers to drive our roadmap
  • Get to build alongside an incredible team of engineers, operators, and the best machinists/CAM programmers in the world
  • Be given autonomy and virtually unlimited room to grow

What We're Looking For
  • Bias to action, take pride in your work, and care more about getting to the right solution than being right
  • Have tech-lead critical projects or initiatives
  • Have worked on large, complex codebases
  • Have extensive experience shipping modern, full-stack applications (our front-ends are React/Next/Typescript and back-ends are Go and Python)
  • Are product-minded and user-driven
  • Are excited to work in a fast-paced environment with high-stakes and quick iteration cycles
  • Are a previous or future founder - if you leave Hadrian to start a company we'll do everything to support you, including investing in you and introducing you to Hadrian's investors
  • Can work from our Los Angeles Factory (Torrance)

Compensation
For this role, the target salary range is $120,000 - $300,000 (actual range may vary based on experience).
This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
Benefits for Full-time Employees
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
  • 401k
  • Relocation support may be provided for certain situations, based on business need.
  • Flexible vacation policy
