Summary of Job Duties:
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking a qualified, highly motivated, experienced individual for the position of Python Developer. As a Python Developer, your role is to co-design, build, test, and implement software solutions. New hired developers will be involved, and collaborate in, with projects that require strong communication skills, problem-solving skills, and analytical skills. We are looking for an individual who thinks outside the box, is passionate about innovation, challenges the status quo, and has high energy levels. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field;
  • Currently admitted to one of the following graduate degree programs at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock:
    • MS or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics;
    • MS in Information Science or Ph.D. in CIS Information Science;
    • MS in Information Quality or Ph.D. in CIS Information Quality;
    • MS in Computer Science or Ph.D. in CIS Computer Science.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience building software solutions using Python;
  • Experience in building applications with SQL as well as building stored procedures;
  • Agile Development Experience;
  • Able to mentor other team members, lead and own ideas & initiatives;
  • A positive mindset - collaborative and can-do attitude;
  • Health information systems development experience preferred.

Job Duties:
  • Responsible for writing and testing code, debugging programs, and integrating applications with other tools;
  • Conduct testing, implementation, and evaluation of project deliverables;
  • Ensure that assigned deliverables are planned and completed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to develop code in agile sprints;
  • Ability to experiment with new tools and solutions;
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems;
  • Willing to travel occasionally if required;
  • Skill in planning, organization, and coordination of activities;
  • Skills in both verbal and written communication.
