Job description

Our Team:
Semtech's NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineering team is a group of collaborative and highly motivated engineers driving the development, testing, and manufacturing readiness of cutting-edge semiconductor products.
We work closely across design, test, characterization, quality, and operations teams to bring innovative products from concept to production.
Our team thrives on mentorship, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence, providing a supportive environment for engineers to grow and make a meaningful impact.

Job Summary:
The Junior Product NPI Engineer supports the introduction of new semiconductor products from initial concept through full production release.
This role provides hands-on exposure to design-for-test, manufacturability, product characterization, and test optimization under the guidance of senior engineers.
The Junior Product NPI Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet specifications, achieve quality targets, and transition smoothly into manufacturing, while developing technical skills and expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Support NPI programs and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Design, Test, Characterization, Validation, Quality, Applications, and Operations (25%).

  • Assist in defining Design for Testability (DfT) and Design for Manufacturability (DfM) requirements for new products under senior engineer guidance (35%).

  • Contribute to product characterization, data analysis, yield modeling, and test optimization, performing correlation studies and design of experiments (DOE) with mentorship (30%).

  • Support monitoring of manufacturing quality, failure analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives, assisting with root cause investigations and corrective actions (10%).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSc in Electrical Engineering or related field; MSc a plus

  • 2+ years of experience in semiconductor product engineering, test engineering, or design engineering; internship or co-op experience considered

  • Foundational knowledge of semiconductor physics and analog/mixed-signal IC design principles

  • Basic familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g., Excel, JMP, Python) and data interpretation

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Exposure to DfT, DfM, and ATE test methodologies

  • Familiarity with high-speed digital ATE platforms (Advantest, Teradyne) or bench test equipment

  • Awareness of semiconductor qualification processes and reliability testing methodologies (JEDEC, HTOL, ESD, Latch-up)

  • Interest in developing technical expertise and professional growth in semiconductor product engineering

Career Growth Philosophy:
At Semtech, we believe that innovation starts with people. We are committed to empowering professional development through mentorship, continuous learning resources, and a collaborative, idea-rich engineering environment.
Our pay-for-performance culture rewards initiative, encourages growth, and recognises meaningful technical and leadership contributions.
