Job description

Are you passionate about driving innovation in application development and streamlining the software delivery lifecycle? As a Lead DevOps Platform Engineer, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between development and operations, ensuring that our applications are built, tested, and deployed with speed, reliability, and compliance to the Enterprise security standards. You will lead efforts to enhance developer productivity, optimize build pipelines, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement across the application development lifecycle.


This is a5-month contract, hybrid position with the potential for extension. The successful candidate is expected to work from our Toronto office three days per week.


What will you do?

  • Lead the design and development of key features for the Helios CI/CD pipeline - VM and Mainframe platforms
  • Consult with partner systems to develop integration strategies revolving around DevOps best practices
  • Consult with Enterprise Architecture and Governance teams to review solution designs to ensure best practices are adhered to
  • Enable AI Capabilities to increase Developer Productivity
  • Work with product owners and key stakeholders to develop high-value features that benefit the RBC Developer community
  • Maintain the CI/CD pipeline: security and vulnerability management, capacity management, deployment and scaling strategies, performance and uptime, infrastructure hygiene
  • Provide estimates on feature delivery, identify and determine delivery risks on key initiatives, and contribute to quarterly product road map planning
  • Review contributions from the Developer community and approve PRs


What do you need to Succeed?

Must-Have


  • 7 years of strong experience with Azure DevOps practices and cloud infrastructure
  • Deep understanding of DevOps Principles and best practices for CI/CD, including designing at an Enterprise scale
  • Understand configuration as code, RBAC, and working within the Mainframe environment from modern deployment platforms
  • Experience with DevOps tools, platforms, and interfaces: Jenkins, UCD, Github, Github Actions, JFrog Artifactory, Hashicorp Vault, Ansible, Octopus Deploy
  • Proficient with Java, Python, Typescript, Groovy, YAML, NPM
  • Experience with deploying to cloud platforms: OCP, Azure, AWS
  • Highly proficient with IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz)
  • Experience with Mainframe utilities and platforms: ISPF, TSO, Mainframe Filesystems, JES, Endeavor


Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with QE Automation Tools
  • Development Experience with IMS, Zeke, DB2, CICs, WebSphere.
  • Development and support of applications hosted on Cloud platforms
  • Experience with Networking concepts
  • Experience with SecOps
