Lead DevOps Engineer
Contract Opportunity
Location(s): Preferred Culver City. Possibly SCV, Austin
Lead DevOps Engineer for start-up like environment to bring mastery of Technology, Leadership, Communication and Strategy to lead a team of platform engineers. Opportunity to grow a talented team and build an innovative DevOps platform to help achieve its goals.
Responsibilities and duties

  • Role Description: Lead DevOps Engineer copy
  • Lead solutioning and problem-solving collaborating across engineering and development teams to containerize applications and deploy them on Kubernetes
  • Optimize Kubernetes cluster performance, resource utilization, and cost-effectiveness
  • Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for Kubernetes environments
  • Ensure the security of Kubernetes clusters by following best practices and implementing security controls
  • Automate Kubernetes deployment and management processes using infrastructure as code tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Kubernetes infrastructure and deployments
  • Stay up-to-date with Kubernetes ecosystem developments and propose improvements

Skills and qualifications
Required skills and experience:

  • 10+ years proven experience as a lead Kubernetes engineer or similar role (e.g. DevOps engineer with Kubernetes focus) primarily working in autonomous, SaaS start-up environments.
  • Leadership experience including roadmapping strategy.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes concepts, components, and APIs
  • Hands-on experience with container technologies (Docker, containers) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Helm)
  • Strong CI/CD (Infra as code) tools, pipelines, deployments (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages (e.g. Go, Python, Java)
  • Proven Leadership skills with mastery in observability and thoughtful, holistic set ups.
  • Self-starter in autonomous environment with strong resourcefulness, and scrappy skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certifications
