Job description


A large financial institution is adding an experienced software engineer to an infrastructure technology team in Irving, Texas. The group develops internal software that replaces repetitive infrastructure administration with automated, API-based services.
The primary focus of this position is engineering applications that manage network infrastructure at scale. The engineer will use Python to create automation around load balancer provisioning, configuration changes, and ongoing lifecycle activities. The position also involves developing web interfaces, connecting internal platforms through APIs, and creating reusable services that allow technology teams to request and manage infrastructure with less manual intervention.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years working professionally in software engineering
  • 5+ years developing applications and services with Python
  • Hands-on development using Flask, Django, FastAPI, or a comparable Python web framework
  • At least 4 years building frontend functionality with React
  • 3+ years working with automated deployment practices, DevOps processes, and Agile delivery
  • 2+ years creating and integrating application programming interfaces
  • Experience deploying software within modern container or cloud-native platforms
  • Practical knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenShift, Cloud Foundry, or similar environments
  • Ability to diagnose application issues and work through complex technical problems

Daily Responsibilities

  • Create tooling that handles load balancer setup, changes, maintenance, and decommissioning

  • Build reusable services that reduce the need for engineers to complete infrastructure tasks manually
  • Convert existing operational runbooks into automated workflows
  • Improve the reliability and repeatability of infrastructure processes through software engineering
  • Create self-service capabilities that application teams can use without direct operational intervention
  • Support technology initiatives related to application migration and infrastructure modernization
  • Develop and maintain React-based interfaces supporting internal automation products
  • Troubleshoot defects and service interruptions across production and lower environments
  • Work alongside infrastructure, network, and application engineering groups
  • Participate in sprint activities, engineering discussions, and Agile ceremonies
