Hardware Validation Engineer
Location: REDMOND, Washington (Remote)
Role Overview
The Hardware Validation Engineer supports critical networking initiatives by validating FPGA and silicon-based networking solutions. The position involves ensuring platform quality through comprehensive validation, testing, and debug activities. The successful candidate will contribute to accelerated networking projects, including network platform validation, test development, debug and triage efforts, and root cause analysis for advanced FPGA and networking technologies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze information to determine plan layout, including computer and peripheral equipment modifications.
  • Build, test, and modify product prototypes using working models or computer simulations.
  • Understand specifications to create test plans and execute validation testing.
  • Perform debug, triage, and root cause analysis on FPGA and networking technologies.
  • Evaluate factors such as reporting formats, cost constraints, and security to determine hardware configuration.
  • Monitor equipment functioning and make necessary modifications to ensure conformance with specifications.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
Experience: 10+ years of validation experience is required, with a focus on test development, debugging, triage, and root-cause analysis.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
  • Knowledge of SystemVerilog.
  • Pre-silicon and/or post-silicon validation experience.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans and models.
  • Understanding of circuit boards, processors, chips, and computer hardware.
Preferred Qualifications
  • FPGA validation experience.
  • Experience with Ixia (IXIA) or CyPerf networking validation platforms.
  • Experience with accelerated networking technologies.
  • Strong communication skills and a self-driven, team-player mindset.

Ideal Background of a Candidate for This Role
  • Hands on experience with validation for multiple product cycles from definition to Silicon, including writing test plans, developing tests, debugging failures and developing tools for pre-silicon and post-silicon environments.
  • Programming skills in C/C++, System Verilog, Assembly, Python and knowledge of advanced computer architecture
  • Communication skills, team player, self-driven and problem-solving ability
  • Developing and deploying cloud applications for cloud hardware (NICs, GPUs, etc) preferred
  • Ability to read and write code in C, C++, C#, SystemC, Powershell, and Python
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including RDMA, SR-IOV, TCP, UDP, DTLS, and IP
