As a Principal Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the development and optimization of advanced software systems for aerospace applications. You will lead major projects, mentor engineering teams, and drive innovation to achieve superior software performance. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains - air, land, sea, space and cyber. Responsibilities: * Drives technology and product advancements
* Works as part of a larger Agile software development team to rapidly provide operational capabilities to the field
* Develops software that is heavily used by US Special Operations Forces (SOF) with a high demand for additional features
* Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions
* Define software/and or system architecture, design software modules, and produce associated documentation per corporate or customer standards
* Ensures software standards are met
* Write and test software modules and integrate with other software and/or hardware components Qualifications You Must Have: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
* 14+ years of experience in software development.
* Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
* Extensive experience implementing mission-oriented Tactical Data Link protocols such as Variable Message Format (VMF) and Link 16
* Experience implementing critical components of tactical data link architecture to include Network Enabled Weapons (NEW)
* Extensive development experience in C# ASP.NET Core
* Experience designing and developing software
* Experience in project definition
* Ability to rapidly work with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large teams
* Ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment
* Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills Qualifications We Prefer: * Development experience in Javascript, Typescript with Frameworks like REACT
* Experience in Scala, Python, Go, or C++
* Expertise in advanced software technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning, cloud computing).
* Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded systems.
* Significant experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
* Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python, and Bash.
* Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build.
* Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral.
* Proficient with data structures. Essential Functions: * Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
* Hand/finger dexterity for coding and testing.
* Ability to work in a hybrid environment with occasional travel. This posting will be open for application for a minimum of 5 days and may be extended based on business needs.
