JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Cloud Technology Advancement Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking graduate / undergraduate interns to work part-time with senior technical staff to research, design, develop, integrate, and test advanced systems. This is an opportunity to work across multiple interconnected disciplines across a large team of teams.

ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and deploy on-prem, external, and hybrid HPC (High Performance Compute) / cloud research platforms
  • Develop and integrate supporting AI/ML models, agentic workflows, and agentic engineering services
  • Develop HPC / cloud security principals, protocols, and practices from secure supply chain to
  • Enhance modern development practices through DevSecOps and agile methodologies
  • Advance existing hardware and software level Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automations
  • Create HPC / cloud architectural designs and documentation
  • Implement observability, telemetry, and monitoring solutions to collect and analyze system insights and performance data

Preferred Source Degree Programs:

  • Computer Science, or Computer Engineering from the College of Engineering
  • Cybersecurity from Information Sciences and Technology (IST)
  • Management Information Systems (MIS) from the Smeal College of Business

Interest in a selection of the following is required:
