The Accounting Automation & AI Team is a newly formed team focused on automating complex business processes and applying AI to reduce repetitive tasks that require cognitive reasoning. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will drive the design and delivery of scalable, cloud native systems that enable intelligent automation across the enterprise. Your Impact
  • Lead the design and development of enterprise-grade technology solutions with a focus on system performance, cross-system interdependence, stability, scalability, and usability
  • Provide technical leadership across initiatives, including mentoring engineers, setting engineering standards, and driving best practices
  • Utilize modern development methodologies with a cloud-first approach, incorporating CI/CD pipelines through Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month's extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related analytical field or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with one or more development frameworks (e.g., .NET, C#, Python, or ASP.NET Core)
  • Strong experience in designing, implementing, and consuming RESTful APIs and using API documentation tools
  • Strong experience building and supporting workflow automation, backend integrations, and distributed systems
  • Strong experience designing, deploying, and managing cloud native applications and architectures
  • Experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
  • Experience building responsive web applications using modern web technologies such as TypeScript and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Blazor)
  • Experience with database technologies such as Oracle and SQL Server and development tools such as Visual Studio
  • Strong proficiency in version control workflows and collaborative development practices
  • Experience leading technical efforts within Agile/Scrum teams
  • Capable of writing and enforcing clean, maintainable, scalable, and well documented code standards
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills, with the ability to resolve complex system issues

Preferred Qualifications
  • 9+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience in authoring and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform
  • Experience with advanced automated testing, build, and deployment strategies for backend and containerized applications
  • Experience designing large-scale distributed systems and integrating across multiple platforms and services
  • Experience in designing data solutions for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, including schema modeling, complex queries, and performance tuning
  • Experience guiding teams in adopting AI enabled capabilities, including LLM integrations, prompt design, or orchestration patterns
  • Exposure to retrieval augmented generation (RAG) concepts or context engineering techniques
  • Awareness of AI governance considerations, including responsible use patterns, bias awareness, and safe automation practices
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple initiatives, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality results within deadlines
  • Skilled in supporting data and process governance of system compliance in accordance with company policies, standards, and SOX requirements
