Northrop Grumman's Space Systems - Propulsions Division is currently seeking an experienced Engineering Technician 2/3 to operate and administer the robotic processes in advanced projects at our Promontory, UT offices.

Role description:

The Engineering Technician is responsible for real-world implementation and execution of robotic and automation processes. The Engineering Technician will contribute to process conceptualization, modeling and simulation, feasibility studies, and experimentation. Efforts will require coordination with multiple engineering and scientific disciplines and the ability to adapt to a changing environment and changing requirements. Work will consist of both in-depth programming and hands-on efforts. You should be able to contribute technical expertise to conceptualization studies. The ability to troubleshoot multi-level processes, then propose and implement solutions will be required.

Job Duties:

  • Primarily working with the operation and in-depth programming of Fanuc robots.
  • Contribute expertise to process feasibility and conceptualization.
  • Generate models to test code and find issues prior to robot programming.
  • Prove out programs in the real-world prior to live energetic implementation.
  • Presentation of data and recommendations to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to Travel 5% - 10%

Basic Qualifications for Engineering Technician 2:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant engineering/technical experience
  • Robotics Technology or Certifications in Control Systems, Robotics, and Automation Technology required
  • Candidate must have demonstrated ability to:
    • Coordinate time and personnel between multiple projects.
    • Plan and execute complex, fast paced projects
    • Communicate technically complex topics and scenarios clearly and concisely.
    • Build relationships necessary to function as efficient teams
    • Be capable of actively and efficiently working multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications for Engineering Technician 2:

  • Associates degree.
  • Experience in programming industrial roboticsfor automation.
  • Firm understanding of Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • Ability to learn new programming languages.
  • Firm understanding of electronics
  • Experience with networking and communications.
  • Good understanding of physics as related to robotics.
  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance

Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineering Technician 3:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of relevant engineering/technical experience
  • Robotics Technology or Certifications in Control Systems, Robotics, and Automation Technology
  • 2 years' experience working with Fanuc robots

Preferred Qualification for Principal Engineering Technician 3:

  • Associates degree
  • Previous experience and knowledge of computer programming.
  • Experiences with MATLAB, Python, Karel, and Fanuc Teach Pendant strongly preferred.
  • Experience with multi-level program implementation and communication
  • Experience with electronics sensor, load cells and laser locators.
  • Ability to coordinate between various engineering disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of solid rocket motor system design, development, and manufacture
  • Demonstrated experience with problem solving, problem investigation teams, and critical decision-making skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills - leader of significant technical projects or investigations and management of multiple program tasks to schedule and budget
  • Experience with the proposal process
Primary Level Salary Range: $48,400.00 - $80,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $57,500.00 - $95,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
