Job description

D.L. George & Sons Manufacturing is seeking a skilled Python Operator to join our 2nd shift team. Python Operators perform tasks involving physical labor for operation and set up of the Python machine. They may also operate a variety of other equipment including, but not limited to, handheld power tools, oxy/acetylene torch or plasma torch. The Python Operator is expected to keep their work area safe and free of hazards.
Python Operator Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Follows directions and instructions of the Supervisor.
  • Ability to complete required documentation when needed.
  • Start up, set up , and prepare Python for operation-loading and unloading material.
  • Perform operator level maintenance on Python as needed and requisition replacement parts as needed.
  • Deburr finished pieces as needed.
  • Sort finished jobs on skids according to destination.
  • Maintain current steel inventory and return unused material back to stock.
  • Maintain and communicate finished jobs.
  • Monitor Python gas supplies and notify management if any are needed.
  • Label material with part numbers.
  • Label drop material with correct size/length and heat number.
  • Keep Python area clean and clear.
  • Assist other workers when not busy with Python.
  • Operate industrial truck or other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herin.

Python Operator Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must have good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and balance.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of accuracy and work safely at all times.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes for material handling.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control practices.
  • Must be able to read and understand warning signs and labels in a manufacturing setting.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge, ablilty to open/load files provided, be able to interpret drawings and written instructions and specifications.
  • Should be capable of working as a member of a team and have basic problem solving, math skills and use precision measuring instruments.

Python Operator Physical Requirements:
  • Meet D.L. George & Sons medical, drug and alcohol qualifications.
  • The majority of the work requires standing or walking and minimal climbing.
  • Must be able to lift material weighing up to 50 pounds with minimal assistance.
  • Ability to operate in a machine shop environment up to 12 hours per day, 40 to 50 hours per week
  • Demonstrate good manual dexterity.
