Job description

Job Summary:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks two senior product managers to drive next-generation technology solutions for its Middle and Back Office Technology team. This role involves partnering with stakeholders to define and implement technology strategies that enhance operational efficiency and scalability across various business functions.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Partner closely with investment professionals, traders, and operations teams to define, prioritize, and launch technology solutions supporting trade lifecycle management, securities reference data, trade booking, corporate actions, and controls.
โ€ข Act as a senior product lead and trusted advisor to Front and Middle Office stakeholders, driving initiatives that boost operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
โ€ข Translate complex business needs into clear technical deliverables for software developers and QA engineers.
โ€ข Partner closely with the Communications chief of staff and leadership team to define and build the departmentโ€™s technology strategy and roadmap from the ground up, identifying and prioritizing technology solutions that support brand and marketing initiatives across audiences and mediums.
โ€ข Act as a senior product lead and trusted advisor to business stakeholders, driving initiatives that improve efficiency, quality, and scalability across content, data, and distribution workflows.
โ€ข Translate business processes and problems into technical requirements and structured deliverables for engineering teams.
โ€ข Lead the development of product roadmaps aligned to the departmentโ€™s technology vision, determining when to build in-house vs. leverage third-party solutions.
โ€ข Evaluate, select, and onboard external tools (e.g., versatile content management systems), while driving the design and delivery of internal tools to support content creation and workflow management, including AI-enabled capabilities where appropriate.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข A bachelorโ€™s degree or higher, with at least seven years of relevant product or technology management experience in investment management, trading operations, or financial technology.
โ€ข Deep understanding of securities lifecycle management, front and middle office workflows, trade processing, and reference data systems; experience with communications systems is a plus.
โ€ข Experience working with software development teams to design and deliver complex technical solutions in a fast-paced financial environment.
โ€ข Keen analytical, organization, and prioritization skills; demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional initiatives from inception to completion.
โ€ข Impressive verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to collaborate with and influence partners across investment, legal, and technology domains.
โ€ข High degree of professional integrity and discretion when handling sensitive business and client information.
โ€ข Skilled at proactively identifying and addressing complex, ambiguous problems with attention to detail and a service mindset.
Preferred:
โ€ข Familiarity with investment management systems, regulatory workflows, databases, and relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#) is a plus.
