Test Automation Engineer -- 5G Core & Device Functions

E-Space

Saratoga, CA

$140K - $160K/yr

Full-time

Posted 4 days ago

Job description

Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you’ve come to the right place!

E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.

We’re intentional, we’re unapologetically curious and we’re 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life.

We’re looking for a Test Automation Engineer to help develop and maintain a reliable, scalable validation infrastructure for 5G Core and device-side network functions spanning both virtualized labs and physical hardware environments. This role will work closely with senior engineers to implement and enhance automation solutions and Test for next-generation wireless systems.
What you will do:
  • Develop and maintain a scalable test automation framework across virtualized and physical deployments of 5G Core and device network functions.
  • Write Python automation scripts and test harnesses for functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
  • Develop tools to automate packet capture and protocol-level analysis, verifying correct 5G stack behavior across interfaces.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop testing involving embedded radio hardware and lab equipment.
  • Analyze automation failures, debug issues, and help distinguish product defects from infrastructure or automation framework issues.
  • Develop and maintain automation code using Git-based development workflows.
  • Own defect lifecycle management in Jira: reproduce issues, document them clearly, and track them through resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with software, platform, systems, and test engineers to improve automation coverage and test efficiency.
What you bring to this role:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 2–5 years of experience developing test automation for wireless, networking, embedded, or distributed systems.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Linux, including shell scripting, networking, and system debugging.
  • Experience with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
  • Experience building and maintaining automated test suites.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working with virtualized environments such as VMware, Proxmox, or similar.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a disciplined approach to debugging and defect tracking.
Nice to have:
  • Experience with 5G Core or radio access network technologies.
  • Familiarity with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, or channel emulators.
  • Experience with Wireshark, tcpdump, or similar network analysis tools.
  • Exposure to Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), satellite communication

This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga, CA location.

The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that’s your experience – then we’ll be immediately wow-ed. E-Space is not currently able to provide employment sponsorship for candidates who do not hold work authorization for the location of this role.
Why E-Space is right for you:
