Job description

Project Engineer | Competitive Salary

PVS Structures (Owen Industries) – Omaha, NE | Full-Time, On-Site

Put Your Engineering Degree to Work on Projects That Last a Century.

At PVS Structures, we fabricate structural steel for projects that matter — from NASA’s Artemis launch structure to hospitals, bridges, and industrial facilities across the country. We’re looking for a Project Engineer with 2–5 years of structural steel experience to join our engineering team in Omaha and help us keep delivering work our customers can stake their reputation on.

This isn’t a paper-pushing role. You’ll develop connection designs for active projects, support our sales team on bids, build relationships with local engineers, and help grow our presence in the structural steel community — all while working alongside some of the most experienced fabricators in the industry.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop connection designs for active structural steel projects in compliance with AISC standards and project specifications
  • Prepare preliminary designs for projects being pursued by our sales team to support competitive bidding
  • Build relationships with local engineers in the Omaha area to promote the design and application of structural steel
  • Engage with the university system to advance structural steel education and expand awareness of PVS Structures’ capabilities
  • Develop and maintain a library of design applications and engineering tools for company-wide use
  • Represent PVS Structures in AISC initiatives as directed by the Chief Engineer
  • Collaborate with production, detailing, and sales teams to support project execution from bid through delivery
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal teams, customers, and professional audiences

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–5 years of structural steel engineering experience in a fabrication, consulting, or AEC environment
  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering required
  • PE license preferred; EIT actively pursuing PE considered
  • Proficiency with SDS-2, RAM, and/or MathCAD — or demonstrated experience with comparable structural engineering software
  • Strong working knowledge of AISC steel design standards and their application in connection and member design
  • Excellent communication skills — comfortable presenting technical concepts to engineers, customers, and academic audiences
  • Collaborative, team-first approach with the ability to work across departments effectively
  • Self-starter who manages multiple projects with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Monday–Friday schedule — consistent, predictable hours
  • Health, Dental & Vision insurance
  • Life/AD&D and Short & Long-Term Disability coverage
  • 401(k) after 6 months
  • PTO and paid holidays — accrual begins immediately
  • High-profile project work — including aerospace, nuclear construction, and major infrastructure
  • Direct access to senior engineering leadership and room to grow within Owen Industries

Medical, Dental, Vision, and Disability benefits begin the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.

Why PVS Structures?

PVS Structures is part of Owen Industries, a leader in structural steel fabrication since 1885. We’ve earned our reputation on projects that demand precision — and we’re growing. Our engineers don’t sit behind a desk reviewing submittals all day. They design, they collaborate, they present, and they see their work go vertical. If you want a role where your technical expertise drives real outcomes — on real projects, for real customers — this is it.

???????? Veterans — You Belong Here

The discipline, precision, and mission-focus you developed in service are exactly what we value in this role. PVS Structures and Owen Industries are proud to be Veteran-friendly employers.
