Job Summary
Compiles and maintains records of quantity, cost, and type of material received, stocked, and issued, and prepares material requisitions by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
โ€ข Works to meet goals and objectives of Material Management consistent with the institutional vision, mission, goals, and objectives.
โ€ข Responds to contemporary Health Care and Material Management trends that may have an impact on institutional material needs.
โ€ข Assists in departmental goals and objectives.
โ€ข Accepts, fosters and uses precepts of continuous quality improvement within the department and among other institutional departments as appropriate.
โ€ข Recommends new programs as the market changes drive the materials needed to enhance the Health Care of the patient.
โ€ข Communicates with colleagues, peers and superiors through succinct expression and receptive listening.
โ€ข Effectively uses quality improvement decision making skills that in corporate ideas and input of others.
โ€ข Establishes mutual trust and respect by dealing with others in a fair manner.
โ€ข Moves cases and boxes to various departments within the institution.
โ€ข Labels medical and surgical supplies with appropriate charge labels.
โ€ข Maintains accurate inventory control in General Stores and throughout the institution.
โ€ข Fills requisitions by moving supplies to appropriate departments within the institution as requested and/or needed.
โ€ข Routinely checks supplies in General Stores for outdated materials.
โ€ข Stocks shelves in General Stores of Medical, Surgical and Office Supplies.
โ€ข Checks current invoice prices with prices listed on inventory control files.
โ€ข Assists in annual physical inventory of medical and surgical supplies in General Stores.
โ€ข Keeps accurate and complete inventory of charge labels.
โ€ข Compares information on requisitions, invoices, and shipping notices to material received or issued to verify accuracy of order.
โ€ข Compiles and maintains inventory of material received, stocked, and issued.
โ€ข Prepares requests for procurement of material.
โ€ข Actively engage in quality improvement activities.
โ€ข Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Requirements
โ€ข 2 years' experience in healthcare
โ€ข 1 year experience in materials management.

Physical Requirements
Perceive the nature of sounds by the ear, express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word, perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes, extend arms and hands in any direction, seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands, pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers, perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; and stoop, kneel crouch, and crawl. Must be able to lift 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting, carrying pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Continuous walking and standing. Must be able to identify, match, and distinguish colors. Rare lifting of greater than 100 pounds.
