Job Description
Lead the commercial backbone of America's first advanced nuclear fuel production facility. This role owns strategic sourcing and contract execution for TRISO-X operations - securing the suppliers, negotiating the agreements, and mitigating the risks that enable our first-of-a-kind fuel fabrication mission. You'll be the critical bridge between X-energy's engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams and the supply base that makes TRISO fuel production possible, operating in a DOE-regulated, NQA-1 environment where every supplier relationship carries nuclear safety and programmatic consequences.
We need a commercial strategist who thrives in high-stakes, highly-regulated procurement: someone who has negotiated multi-million-dollar agreements under federal flow-downs (FAR/DEAR), structured contracts that balance cost and compliance in nuclear or defense supply chains, and built supplier relationships resilient enough to support first-of-a-kind manufacturing programs. You'll lead complex negotiations with sole-source and long-lead suppliers, draft and administer contracts with nuclear quality requirements, navigate government clauses and intellectual property constraints, and proactively identify and retire supply chain risks before they threaten schedule or mission success.
Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Support the Director of Supply Chain by providing guidance and training to other staff members, supporting and reinforcing the Supply Chain goals and performance expectations, and exhibiting leadership through behaviors and performance.
  • Act as a surrogate for the Director by representing Purchasing in leadership meetings both internally and externally and serving as the backup when the Director is unavailable.
  • Perform as the Business Services/ Supply Chain subject matter expert for supplier negotiations, contract language approver and direct liaison with enterprise Legal staff.
  • Provide strategic guidance and direction to Purchasing staff on supplier management, project execution strategy, and supply system development. Build a steady-state, flexible Purchasing organization and prioritize team development.
  • Implement risk management strategies to address supply chain vulnerabilities and ensure continuity
  • Develop business processes which increase effectiveness and create an engine of growth for the company.
  • Build and manage a robust supply base is developed which supports project goals and supply chain targets.
  • Establish, track, and manage performance metrics to ensure Supply Chain goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Provide direction on ARDP, commercial, and contracting strategy to purchasing team, stakeholders and other business units.
  • Oversee negotiations with suppliers on contract costing, schedule, and Terms & Conditions (Ts&Cs).
  • Establish strategic supplier relationships to achieve company objectives and provide business value.
  • Manage the execution of daily processes and procedures to ensure compliance to nuclear fuel procurement regulations.
  • Perform governance and oversight of Purchasing activities and support internal and external audits.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities leveraging digital tools, automation, and analytics.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, or business from an accredited university or college.
  • Typically, ten plus years' experience in Procurement, Supply Chain function.
  • 4-7 years of experience managing a purchasing program and department, strongly preferred
  • Familiarity and demonstrated success working within highly regulated, nuclear or similar industry (chemical, automotive, pharmaceutical etc) .
  • Strong demonstrated contract administration skills and ability to decipher and manage business risk.
  • Demonstrated success in team building, supplier relationship management, category management, complex negotiation, and risk mitigation.

Compensation

Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives.
Offers within the posted salary range are commensurate with the individual's qualifications for the position, along with a view on internal equity, market data, and room for growth. The salary range for this position is:
$130,000- $155,000
