Job description

Dutchess Cannabis is seeking a experienced Purchasing Manager to support locations in the state of Ohio.

Candidates that reside in or near the following cities in Ohio are highly desired:

  • Akron, Cleveland, Dayton, Hyde Park, Norwood, Sidney 

The Purchasing Manager, Ohio, will report directly to the Director of Purchasing. Ideal candidates should possess a minimum of three years of experience within the cannabis industry, demonstrating in-depth expertise in strains, concentrates, and edibles. Leveraging a proven track record in procurement, the successful candidate will contribute to achieving the company's sales and margin objectives. Responsibilities include overseeing daily purchasing activities, developing strategic promotions, cultivating supplier relationships, and delivering exceptional customer experience.

As the Purchasing Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our operations, leading the charge in sourcing and managing a diverse range of cannabis products. Your expertise in strains, concentrates, and edibles will be crucial in driving our sales and margin objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and management of purchasing cannabis products in Ohio retail stores.

• Execute the full scope of the purchasing and buying process from sourcing, arranging vendor meetings, product evaluation and cost analysis to deliver sales and margin goals.

• Acts in accordance with the mission statement of right product, right place, right time, at the right volume.

• Responsible for regular assortment productivity analysis and makes recommendations to improve sales and margin.

• Monitors inventory levels and suggests appropriate actions to maintain appropriate Days of On Hand by category and actively manages unproductive inventory.

• Develop strong relationships with vendors of cannabis products and ensure that we have uninterrupted access to industry-leading product at competitive prices.

• Maintain an organized calendar of deliveries, payouts, on-site vendor meetings, product education meetings.

• Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand, responsible for communicating forecasted need by sku to the cultivation/production facilities.

• Ensure vendor compliance with licensing obligations, delivery procedures, and payment handling.

• Assist with developing purchasing team as needed.

• Collaborate and maintain partnership with General Managers and other team members in the state.

• Knowledge of inventory control systems in regulated cannabis markets

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or 3+ years' experience in lieu of degree, in a supervisory or management role in a retail setting, specifically with POS business operations, Inventory control systems and strong retail business acumen.

• 3 years of Cannabis experience, purchasing experience is a plus.

• Understanding of applicable state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, personnel law, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives, and standard operating procedures.

• Team player, ability to problem-solve, self-motivated and strong work ethic.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills.

• Must have excellent organization and time management skills.

• Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. • Expert knowledge of Excel and Headset is a plus.

• Must be and remain compliant with any and all regulatory requirements for working in the cannabis industry.

• Must be able to obtain and retain a badge issued by the state of operation. 

*Quarterly travel to locations may be required seldomly.
