We are currently working with a family-owned manufacturing company seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join their Madison, WI location. Our client is a family-owned manufacturer, who is known for their strong culture and long-tenured workforce, that has been serving customers for nearly 50 years.

What's the role?
The Purchasing Assistant plays an important role in supporting the company's purchasing and procurement operations. This position is responsible for sourcing materials, supplies, equipment, and services needed to support manufacturing and daily business operations. Responsibilities include obtaining vendor quotes, coordinating deliveries, maintaining supplier relationships, managing purchasing records, processing invoices, and helping resolve vendor-related issues.

This role works closely with internal teams to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and project timelines. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing multiple priorities while proactively identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
What experience and skills do I need to be successful?
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred
  • 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory control, administrative, or related experience
  • Manufacturing or industrial purchasing experience is a plus
  • Experience working with vendors, purchase orders, freight coordination, and inventory management
