Salary Range: $103,000-$129,000 per year
Purpose of Position:
The Purchasing Manager provides leadership and oversight for Indirect Supplies, MRO, and Site Services procurement; managing an annual spend of $200M+. This role is responsible for delivering financial benefits through strategic sourcing, competitive bidding, and negotiations to secure best-value contracts. The position manages a team of Purchasing Agents, Buyers, and Sourcing Coordinators, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures while supporting internal and external requirements.
Primary Objectives
  • Drive cost reductions through strategic sourcing, supply chain optimization, product innovation, technology, and process improvements.
  • Establish KPIs for supplier performance and conduct regular business reviews to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.
  • Develop and maintain category strategies for key spend areas to optimize cost and supplier relationships.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to direct reports, leveraging individual strengths and fostering professional growth.

Essential Functions
  • Direct and manage purchasing functions to meet business requirements and achieve sourcing objectives.
  • Minimize acquisition costs for materials and services; negotiate and administer bids, purchase orders, and long-term contracts for Indirect Supplies, MRO, and Site Services.
  • Leverage data analytics and market intelligence to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations to align procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement and department performance using Six Sigma and lean methodologies.
  • Negotiate and manage over 100 supplier master agreements across multiple categories and plant locations.
  • Support Risk Management on contractor insurance, safety, chemical compliance, and reporting.
  • Standardize supply methods, contracts, and payment terms across business platforms.
  • Utilize SAP and Microsoft Office for procurement and reporting.
  • Lead special projects as needed.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of procurement experience with Indirect Supplies/MRO/Site Services
  • On-site work required at Livingston corporate office.
  • Strong negotiation skills, knowledge of business law, and experience creating service and supply contracts.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex data.
  • Knowledge of procurement procedures, accounting, and tax principles.

  • MBA
  • Understanding of agriculture and meat processing industries
  • Broad knowledge of Indirect procurement categories
  • Experience with e-procurement tools and digital sourcing platforms.
