Job description

Client is seeking a Materials Manager to lead a team responsible for acquiring and managing the physical resources and services needed to support agrowing manufacturing business. Responsibilities include sourcing equipment, goods and services and bringing those items to the production floor. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of existing vendors, as well as searching for reliable new suppliers with improved costing structure.

The responsibility for purchased items will also include oversight of receiving, inventory stocking, kitting and delivery to the shop floor. The successful candidate must also be able to interact with the ERP system and the accounting department to ensure all materials related transactions and inventory levels are correct, documented and audited.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal procurement terms
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
  • Perform procurement cost analysis including support of make/buy decisions
  • Assess, manage and mitigate procurement and stocking risks to maintain stock for minimum products on hand and parts replacement inventory to meet client demands
  • Seek and partner with reliable, cost effective and on time vendors and suppliers that supply defect free components.
  • Ensure quantity and timing of component deliveries
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
  • Track and follow up on procurements to ensure promised delivery dates are maintained
  • Manage receiving, inventory and kitting operations
  • Eliminate production parts shortages and issuing errors
  • Ensure accuracy of inventory counts in the Resodyn ERP system

Position Requirements

  • Proven working experience as purchasing manager, agent or officer
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
  • A knack for negotiation and networking
  • Working experience of vendor management software
  • Ability to gather and analyze data in relation to cost, quality and delivery
  • Solid judgement along with decision making skills
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Strong Computer Skills
  • Familiarity and/or experience with ERP systems as a management tool
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for working in a diverse, demanding, and exciting technology environment
  • Strong work ethic and team player attributes
  • BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration, or

equivalent
