This is a full-time position requiring weekend availability.

SUMMARY:
The Purchasing & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for supervising the ongoing activities in the purchasing department including but not limited to: receiver activities, inventory audits, loading dock operations, receiving of goods, delivery of goods to departments, fulfilling requisitions both physically and within required systems, etc. This position is to support sustainability, general operations and safety goals of hotel by working efficiently and within guidelines as set forth by internal SOPs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for supporting the ordering beverage products & food dry control items; maintaining the order guides & par levels; and following up with vendor for back orders, substitutes and other issues; and help in controlling cost.
- Responsible for making sure that all requisitioned food/nonfood items are fulfilled and delivered by the receiver(s) and that all shorted items are communicated.
- Supervise the overall organization of all products purchased and stored (product rotation, labeling, etc.) Assist in the supervision of the receiver(s).
- Supervise the receiver(s) in the storing of products and making sure that products received are within the set standards.
- Monitor the receiving, storing and distribution of all purchased products and non-food items; follow up with the vendor & department concern on any issues and help in the resolution.
- Lead or support the month-end inventory count process.
- Represent the department in internal and external meetings as needed.
- Utilize the Birch Street System for purchase orders and receiving to maintain audit standards.
- Maintain an accurate up-to-date guest package log and assist in delivering guest/internal package/s to the designated location. Maintain an accurate up-to-date outgoing package log for shipping out packages and lead in the settling guest/internal department's package issues.
- Any additional duties as requested by the Regional Finance Director, Purchasing Manager, Assistant Purchasing Manager and the GMs of all respective hotels that they may interact with.
- Support the Assistant Purchasing and Receiving Manager in maintaining a clean and safe loading dock area, bottle room/recycling area, and storeroom.
- Coordinate waste management at the JW including but not limited to: recycling, composting and traditional trash.
- Operate JW van to deliver support deliveries for Ada Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott and AC Marriott.
- Support the sustainability and green team goals for the hotel
- Support and follow safety and security procedures required by hotel including completing trainings related to hi-lo, safety of loading dock, security of loading dock and maintaining CDL licensing requirements/deadlines.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Suite experience
- Food & Beverage background preferred
- Ability to exercise considerable initiative, planning and judgement while prioritizing work, learning new concepts quickly and juggling multiple tasks calmly in a fast environment.
- Create and maintain a positive attitude with a focus on teamwork.
- Be available for any emergencies and act in a capacity to protect our guests and associates, while preserving the building and its systems during the emergency. To act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return to a normal operating status. To inform Finance and Accounting, Engineering Management and Security of any such emergencies.
- Follow the hotel's recommended safety, security and emergency procedures; follows hotel procedures for key control, lifting heavy objects and/or using chemicals.
- Work in a neat and efficient manner, keeping work areas clean and well organized.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school dipoloma or equivalent required
- Food & Beverage background preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The position requires some repetitive motion for keyboarding while in a seated position.
- The position requires the ability to move throughout all areas of the hotel; the ability to move up to 50 pounds short distances without assistance; the ability to move items up to 200 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
- The position requires the wearing of all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions.
- The position requires the ability to physically stand, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance and crouch.
