Location: 35 Piper Lane, Prospect Heights, IL


Summary:


The Inventory Control Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the organization's inventory management system to ensure inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and uninterrupted production support. This role develops and implements inventory control procedures, monitors inventory performance, coordinates with cross-functional teams, and ensures that materials, supplies, and personal protective equipment (PPE) are available when needed. The position plays a key role in optimizing inventory levels, minimizing discrepancies, and supporting continuous process improvement across warehouse and production operations.


Key Skills & Responsibilities:


  • Manage and maintain the inventory management system to ensure accurate inventory records.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce inventory control procedures to minimize discrepancies while improving inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain and update warehouse locations, bin assignments, and inventory placarding.
  • Order, monitor, and maintain adequate stock levels of shop supplies, including tapes, PPE, cleanroom materials, and other miscellaneous items.
  • Ensure PPE stations at facility entrances remain fully stocked to provide employees and visitors with required safety equipment.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of all inventory receipts, transfers, and shipments.
  • Conduct regular physical inventories, cycle counts, spot checks, and inventory audits to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Prepare and provide inventory reports, analyses, and performance metrics to management as required.
  • Analyze inventory reports to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for corrective action.
  • Monitor slow-moving, obsolete, and expiring inventory, and recommend appropriate actions to minimize waste and inventory costs.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional teams, including Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain backup suppliers or alternative sources for high-demand inventory items.
  • Review completed jobs with cross-functional teams to ensure labor and inventory transactions are accurate before job closure, resolving any discrepancies.
  • Maintain an effective inventory control program by establishing and reviewing minimum and maximum inventory levels based on usage history, demand forecasts, and supplier lead times.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement continuous improvement opportunities within inventory control and warehouse processes.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Computer experience, required.
  • Current or previous forklift certification a plus.
  • Quality inspection of incoming stock
  • Familiar with FIFO rules & best practices
  • Inventory counting
  • Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.
  • Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
  • Proficient keyboarding skills.
  • Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships with cross-functional team members.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations and conversions.
  • Highly effective in Microsoft Office
  • Epicor ERP experience or similar ERP system
