Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to support all aspects of material movement, including receiving, distribution, and storage of goods. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate inventory records, operating material handling equipment, and ensuring timely communication with purchasing and logistics departments. Ideal candidates will have strong organizational skills, forklift experience, and proficiency in warehouse systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Verify and record incoming shipments; check for damage and accuracy against packing slips.
  • Store materials using an automated inventory management system (QAD).
  • Load, unload, move, and stage materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
  • Maintain inventory control for raw materials, finished goods, and recyclables.
  • Manage proper handling and documentation of hazardous materials; attend annual HazMat and DOT certification training.
  • Operate conveyor systems and equipment to transfer materials efficiently.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all receipts and reconcile discrepancies with Purchasing.
  • Comply with all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe equipment operation.
  • Identify and resolve basic inventory and storage issues independently; escalate more complex issues as needed.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to lift/move up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and manual handling required.
  • Work near moving machinery and in moderate noise conditions; occasional exposure to heat, dust, and fumes.
  • Requires use of PPE including gloves, safety shoes, hearing protection, and eye protection.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
  • Valid fork truck operating license.
  • Minimum 69 months of relevant warehouse experience.
  • Experience using inventory systems like QAD is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and perform basic math calculations.
  • Must be comfortable working independently and following standard operating procedures.
