Position Type: Full Time


The Hydraulic Application Engineer serves as a technical subject matter expert within Triad Technologies' Technical Support Desk, providing application engineering and product support for hydraulic and fluid power solutions. Reporting to the Technical Support Supervisor – Motion Control, this role partners with Sales, Customer Experience, Engineering, suppliers, and customers to recommend, troubleshoot, and support hydraulic system solutions across a wide variety of industrial applications.


This position combines technical expertise with customer support by assisting with product selection, application guidance, troubleshooting, and solution development. While hydraulics is the primary area of focus, experience with pneumatic systems and industrial automation is highly valued to support a broad range of customer applications. This is a full-time position, Monday – Friday.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for hydraulic and fluid power product lines.

  • Support outside and inside sales teams by recommending products and developing application solutions that meet customer requirements.

  • Review customer specifications, hydraulic schematics, and application requirements to recommend appropriate components and system configurations.

  • Provide technical assistance for pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, filtration, accumulators, manifolds, power units, hose, fittings, and related hydraulic products.

  • Troubleshoot hydraulic system performance issues and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

  • Support quotation development by assisting with product selection, sizing, technical documentation, and bill of materials review.

  • Collaborate with Engineering and suppliers on complex customer applications and custom solutions.

  • Assist with startup support, product implementation, and technical issue resolution as needed.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, application guides, and knowledge base articles.

  • Deliver technical product training to sales teams, Customer Experience Representatives, and customers.

  • Maintain current knowledge of hydraulic technologies, supplier product offerings, and industry best practices.

  • Support additional technical inquiries related to pneumatic and industrial automation products as business needs require.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required for the Engineer title; candidates without an Engineering degree will be considered for the Specialist title.

  • 3+ years of experience supporting, designing, applying, or troubleshooting hydraulic and fluid power systems, or equivalent industry experience.

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic circuit design, component selection, system troubleshooting, and industrial applications.

  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to customers and internal teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple customer requests and priorities in a fast-paced technical support environment.

  • Experience supporting industrial distributors, OEMs, machine builders, or systems integrators.

  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems and electro-pneumatic controls.

  • Experience with Parker Hannifin or other leading hydraulic and fluid power manufacturers.

  • Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.

  • Experience providing technical support, applications engineering, or customer-facing engineering support.
