Overview

Under the direction of the Managers of Ambulatory Pulmonary Diagnostics and Respiratory Services, the Ambulatory RT is able to assist with the technical and clinical matters pertaining to ambulatory respiratory care and to the pulmonary lab. This includes performing all inpatient and outpatient pulmonary diagnostic testing throughout the Children's Mercy Hospital system; performing respiratory evaluation, treatment and education in an ambulatory setting; assisting in the development of continuous quality improvement standards; communicating professionally with providers regarding patient care; communicating professionally with patients and their families to ensure that they have a positive hospital experience.

Responsibilities
    Provide a high level of expertise in respiratory care equipment and procedures to support the Pulmonology, Asthma/Allergy and Primary Care services.
  • Perform pulmonary function tests.
  • Participates in essential clinic related activities.
  • Participate in research activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field and
    • 3-5 years experience in pulmonary function setting or
  • Associate's Degree In Respiratory Therapy and
    • 3-5 years experience
      • 3 years prior work experience in the same job may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist MO
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist KS
  • CPFT/RPFT (Certified/Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist) preferred within 1 Year or
  • AE-C Certified Asthma Educator preferred within 1 year
