Job Description:
Content Publishing & Automation Specialist (2-4 years of experience)
REMOTE - MUST WORK PST HOURS
Pay $18 Hourly
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Content Publishing & Automation Specialist to support content publishing and help transform manual content operations into efficient, scalable workflows across Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and emerging Copilot experiences. This role combines hands-on content QA and publishing with practical automation development.
The ideal candidate understands digital content publishing processes and tools, has exceptional attention to detail, and can use scripting and AI-assisted development tools to solve operational problems. They will communicate clearly, build strong partnerships across content, design, engineering, and localization teams, and proactively surface risks, opportunities, and recommendations. They will manage day-to-day publishing activities while thinking strategically about how to consolidate existing scripts and build reliable solutions that improve quality, speed, and scale across the content team.
Key Responsibilities
Content Publishing & Operations
Perform detailed quality assurance checks of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint templates before ingestion, checking metadata, accessibility, and adherence to publishing standards.
Publish and maintain content in our CMS, following established workflows and release requirements.
Support en-US and localized bulk-ingestion workflows and coordinate handoffs across content, design, and localization teams.
Maintain clear operational documentation, trackers, status updates, and audit trails for publishing activities.
Automation & Tooling
Identify repetitive or error-prone content operations and translate them into recommendations for clear automation requirements and maintainable workflows.
Build, test, document, and maintain scripts and lightweight tools using Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting technologies.
Use GitHub Copilot CLI, GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio Code, or comparable AI-assisted development tools to accelerate solution development, troubleshooting, and documentation.
Consolidate existing scripts into simple, reliable end-to-end tools, including one-click workflows where possible.
Create dashboards or reporting solutions that provide visibility into publishing workstreams, throughput, quality, and blockers.
Develop clear process documentation, user guidance, and support materials so automated solutions can be adopted and maintained by the broader team.
Balance automation with appropriate human review, ensuring solutions improve efficiency without compromising content quality or publishing controls.
Required Qualifications
2-4 years of experience in digital content publishing, content operations, content management, production, or a related field.
Strong expertise with Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Hands-on experience using a content management or publishing platform to prepare, publish, update, and maintain digital content.
Strong understanding of content publishing lifecycles, including intake, metadata preparation, QA, localization, ingestion, release, and maintenance.
Demonstrated experience automating workflows with Python, PowerShell, or another scripting language.
Experience using GitHub Copilot CLI, GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio Code, or similar AI-assisted development tools to create scripts or automated solutions.
Strong attention to detail and experience performing structured QA against defined requirements or checklists.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple publishing and automation priorities independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build alignment across technical and non-technical teams, proactively surface risks and dependencies, and translate operational needs into clear strategic recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with APIs, Git-based workflows, command-line tools, Kusto, Excel automation, or dashboard and reporting solutions.
Experience developing batch-processing tools, validation frameworks, or internal utilities for content or quality operations.
Familiarity with generative AI, prompt-based workflows, or human-in-the-loop quality processes.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable publishing content, inspecting a template for subtle quality issues, and opening a terminal to automate a repetitive workflow. They are meticulous, curious, proactive, strategic, and pragmatic. They communicate early and clearly, ask the right questions, anticipate dependencies, and bring people together to move work forward. They can connect day-to-day operational details to broader team goals, influence decisions with clear recommendations, and build trusted partnerships across disciplines. They understand that successful automation must be accurate, maintainable, well documented, and easy for others to use, and they continuously look for opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual effort, and help the content team scale.
