Job description

Position Summary

SAS is a fully remote organization. This position is 100% remote.

The Marketing Operations Specialist is responsible for the execution, deployment, automation, and operational support of marketing programs for association and nonprofit clients. Working within a structured ticketing and workflow environment, this role builds and deploys email campaigns, newsletters, membership communications, webinar promotions, automated renewal programs, surveys, social media content, and reporting deliverables.

This position is not client-facing and does not own marketing strategy. Instead, the Marketing Operations Specialist partners with client-facing marketing teams to translate approved plans and campaign direction into timely, accurate, and efficient execution. The role serves as a critical extension of SAS's operational services model by ensuring repeatable marketing processes are delivered consistently, documented effectively, and continuously improved through automation and standardization.

Essential Functions Marketing Campaign Execution
  • Build, test, schedule, and deploy email marketing campaigns in platforms such as Informz, Constant Contact, Rasa, Mailchimp, and similar systems.
  • Produce and distribute recurring newsletters, announcements, CEO updates, member communications, and operational marketing messages.
  • Execute membership recruitment, retention, welcome, renewal, win-back, and lapsed-member campaigns.
  • Support webinar, conference, certification, and education marketing promotion cycles.
  • Build and send award nomination campaigns, board election communications, surveys, and advocacy alerts.
  • Develop and maintain campaign assets using established templates and approved content.
Social Media & Digital Production
  • Schedule and publish organic social content across multiple channels.
  • Produce social graphics and marketing assets using Canva and approved brand templates.
  • Manage content calendars and posting schedules.
  • Support digital advertising operations, including creative resizing, campaign trafficking, and deployment support.
Marketing Systems & Automation
  • Configure and maintain marketing automation workflows.
  • Manage audience segmentation, distribution lists, and campaign databases.
  • Build automated member journeys including welcome series, renewal sequences, certification reminders, and event promotion workflows.
  • Assist with landing page creation, form setup, and website content updates.
  • Document and standardize repeatable marketing processes.
Workflow Management
  • Manage work assigned through Jira Service Management and other workflow tools.
  • Ensure requested deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Monitor ticket queues, communicate status updates, and elevate risks when appropriate.
  • Adhere to established quality assurance, testing, and approval procedures prior to deployment.
Reporting & Analytics
  • Produce operational marketing reports and performance dashboards.
  • Track email, campaign, social media, and automation performance metrics.
  • Provide send-level data and execution reporting to client-facing marketing teams.
  • Support ongoing process improvement through measurement and analysis of campaign results.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and reduce repetitive work.
  • Support knowledge transfer, documentation, SOP development, and process standardization initiatives.
  • Participate in training and adoption of new marketing technologies, AI tools, and operational workflows.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of SAS's marketing operations function.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Digital Media, or related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in marketing operations, digital marketing, email marketing, association marketing, or campaign execution.
  • Experience working with marketing automation and email marketing platforms.
  • Experience supporting multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
  • Association, nonprofit, AMC, agency, or membership organization experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a ticket-based workflow environment preferred.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Excellent written communication and proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms, CRM systems, and marketing automation tools.
