Description
Project Engineer II is a position within the Transmission Department to perform electric utility-related engineering tasks and provide technical expertise to solve design problems under limited supervision. Incumbents are expected to perform a variety of moderately complex tasks in design, drawing and specification preparation, as well as assigning and reviewing basic tasks with Project Engineer I's and Engineering Technician I's.
We are looking to fill this position for the following offices: Baton Rouge, Summerville, and Raleigh
Requirements
  • Works under limited supervision and receives markups and reviews from a more senior engineer to produce final deliverables.
  • Active leader in design utilizing PLS-CADD software, planning, engineering and Client projects to ensure that the needs of the Client are met in the most economical and effective manner. Models are built from the ground up or are minor revisions to existing models.
  • Assign tasks to less-experienced Engineers and Technicians and review their work.
  • Support and contribute to a company-wide safety culture by following established safety standards, policies, and best practices, helping to ensure a safe environment for employees, clients, and the public.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
  • Prepare project review packages including design deliverables, material lists, pole specifications, and labor contracts.
  • Understanding and expertise in RUS and NESC requirements.
  • Assist in the continued development of both Company and Client standards to provide guidelines for future project planning and design.
  • Must interface well with Clients, Vendors, Representatives, and Employees at all levels.
  • Perform field/site visits to design, observe, and inspect projects with a more senior team member.
  • Travel is required for this position on an as-needed basis.

Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering required. 1+ year of applicable experience required. Current Engineering Intern Certification (FE). Familiarity with PLS-CADD software.
